IFO FWD class: wheelie bars and one piece OK for n/a cars???
What do you all think?
We're getting ready to update the website with new class additions. One rule we're considering for the FWD class is one piece front ends and wheelie bars allowed for naturally aspirated vehicles. As of now, the only class these type cars can compete in are bracket or Outlaw (anything goes). Would all you IFO FWD regulars mind if "pro" type all motor cars compete in the FWD class? The rule addition would be worded, "One piece front ends, wheelie bars, and straight axles prohibited for forced induction applications, but allowed for naturally aspirated."
An all motor car has never placed, or even competed (that i can remember) in the FWD class. Very very few "pro" all motor cars race at IFO, actually only 2 that I can remember (one in Tucson, another at Columbus) but I'd like them to have a class other than bracket or Outlaw IF one shows up. They can't race in All Motor since wheelie bars and one piece are prohibited in that class.
Let us know.
Thanks!

Now that you have a street all motor class, this sounds like an excellent idea. I think some massaging of the street rules would be necessary to make sure there is a dividing line between the two all motor classes.
I think you're misunderstanding. One piece front ends and wheelie bars still prohibited in All Motor Pro. Instead, would be OK for FWD Quick 8 in 2010 for n/a cars only.
got ya. let the all motor cars with 1-piece and wheelie bars into the FWD class along with the turbo cars? sounds like a fair enough deal.
well, like I said it's not really a big deal as I've only seen two ever register at an IFO, but would still like to include them for that rare case. Kind of like the n20 maxima on slicks at the KC race last May, very rare, but should definitely be OK for the class even though V6.

I don't get why those things can't be run in the All Motor Pro class. Aftermarket front ends, alcohol, lexan, fuel cells, etc...just no pro cars. Only cars that are kinda pro, kinda not really street.
Either way, thank you for the consideration and for even having a place to race. I'll be there on the 30th in my EVO.

Because there are 50 times more "kinda" pro cars than true pro cars that race IFO... classes are catered to the majority.
I think it sounds good to me and I know some of the All Motor cars need a class. I think they would be great competition for some of the faster SFWD cars.
so your saying that the AMP class are going to be allowed to run wheelie bars?
i would love to put wheelie bars on my car

i think it would be fine, i personally don't like watching a full out race chassis racing against a full chassis sportsman car.
Again, there have only ever been 2 pro AM cars show up to an IFO after 80+ events since 2001, but still want to make this rule addition for that rare case one does show up.
Yes, full chassis against sportsman, but the full chassis will be all motor. Either way, keeping it a FWD ONLY class.

well yeah i understand its all motor only and FWD only but theres a lot of spectators out there that don't know all of that info.
I just know that when one of those cars do show up, the cars that are typically in the class will instantly be **** on by that fwd, wheelie bar, modified front end race car.

i know what you are saying...but thats just what i think. It might be exciting but what im saying is.
I wouldn't want to see a Funny Car race a Dragster..., they are close in speed butjust aren't designed the same so one has a lot of advantage over the other.
Cliff will do whatever he thinks from his experience is necessary to bring more people in so it doesnt matter.
