help with zc starter!! what to use
so i have a sohc zc motor and i just purchased a starter for a 91 si motor. i compared the two and they look completely different. the zc is shorter and connections are in different places. can i still use it or do i need a different one? thanks guys
alright i just tried it, and the drive of the starter is too long. eh. i searched and everyone says all d-series starters work. why is this not fitting?
nvm its not too long, i just realized the starter wont go in all the way because the tranny or something prevents it from going in straight.... what do i do now? lol
well right now i just flipped the starter so i guess its upside down? i have two efs so i looked at the starter on my other one, and the connections are toward the front of the car. on the one im working on, i have flipped it so the connections are toward the rear of the car. is this ok? im not gonna start it until i get confirmation haha.
Not sure about the SOHC but on the DOHC I was able to use both my stock LX automatic starter as well as an Si starter.
You sure you got the right year starter? Thinking you might have gotten a 92+.
Best advice I can offer is to take the bad one to the autoparts store and start comparing them until you get the right throw.

im sorry im sorry haha.
well i got the starter on and i bolted everything up and i started it. it started but at start up, i hear a noise from the starter! its the sound you get when you try to turn the key on a running car. help? i search and saw it could be the flywheel?

turn the flywheel a little by spinning the crank. You can do this by turning an accessory pulley - usually it won't slip and the crank will turn.
Might be the flywheel has teeth chewed in a particular spot.
Just got thinking - I used a 95 starter before too.
L3 tranny case is the same for all these sooooo....
all starters should be about the same.
