Announced Nasa HC back to RA1's....
interesting...
I like the ra1 and all but have been seriously irritated by the spec tire thing, and was truly hoping that HC would see an open tire.
Good thing i didnt sell off all of my Ra1s.

They should just make it spec Toyo.. I finally got my car dialed in on the R888's and now I have to change back..
I wonder when the RA1's will be back in stock

I saw this coming once sm went back. Imo the triple 8 wasn't worth it. Slightly faster but wear a lot faster.
<----goes dumpster diving for ra-1s again

Excellent now that I picked up a set of the tripple 8's
I guess they are strictly HPDE tires now?
Maybe instead of the three weekend grace period they'll allow the 888's to be used as a rain tire or for the remainder of the 2010 season?
Toyo should lower their prices because of this.
Too much confusion as to who what where when.
Andrie: I'd like to be in your shoes, and run 3 different series???

Or if they will discontinue it here, and keep the Ra1.
SCCA SM, and Nasa spec tire classes ARE were Toyo makes money on R-compound tires.
I agree with Andrie and Brian Z.
Just because a few cry babies can't figure out how to get the car to to work with R888 everyone has to go back? Just leave it open as it is now,I don't see a real difference. This is worse than nascar and goodyear, and I did not think that was possible.
Toyo is so babylon.

I stole all that So Cal secrets info on the 888's and am getting ready to test the theory too.
Now this.
I say lower their prices across the board and use both
RA-1's used to be cheap. Then the R888 came along at its higher price and the RA-1's followed them on the way up. Does this mean RA-1's are going to be cheap again?

I'm still getting mine for $2 more per tire than I was at the end of last year!
Yep, a $2 price increase. I wouldn't call that much of a higher price.
Well the tire shops will be happy will need to shave tires again. They werent making money on the triple 8 in that sense. I won't complain, since "I like em shaved".

they should just leave it open... the whole HC tire issues is a real GONG SHOW
Its not a matter of getting the car to work. Its the fact that they aren't that much better to warrant the extra price on top of the accelerated wear.
BTW - I have 3 race weekends on my current 888 and still have 3/32nd tread and no camber wear! They have not fell off in a race for me at all. Juan Tushag can vouch as well, once you find what they like they are just as good as RA-1 or better. Then again some will never understand slip angle, camber and air pressure and they dont care because they just want tires to last as they are cheap racers. To add ,I am still using a practice set of 888 tires I bought way back from Matt Lang, which were only a second slower at Autoclub than my new 888s and they now have 24 heat cycles and no cords!
It is different strokes for different folks.I know guys who complain about the new tire and never even drove on a set of r888 yet! I however feel everyone is not adapting to the tire as some have, just jumping on the bandwagon because everyone else wants to switch. As we all know, whatever Miata does is what we have to do and that is sad.I realize NASA has a hard time to please everyone, but the best is to leave it with the two tire choices as we have now.

If everyone would just read this and try these guidelines they would be fine. In my area, I personally think it is all to blame on AIM tires for putting out there you need to start at 40 cold.
