assuming you are going to use it as a gear change cut on your shifter, this is the only place that had an idea of what i was talking about.

we ended up going a different route, but i strongly recommend you to get in contact with t1 race.

Contact miller from NRG. He has a slightly better deal than what Tony did, but both are great!

Cool. All you need is the strain gage and the gear position sensor on the Xtrac and you can shift it perfect, just as intended by Xtrac.

i have one already, its a load cell thats inline with the shift rod, but its having problems binding up for some reason, i was told to use a micro switch on the shifter itself, and it will work better then the load cell.

There are many ways to skin a cat, just have to know exactly what you want and who is setting the car up and how they want to do it.

If what you have is binding up, then there's obviously a problem.

A strain gage is going to be much more consistent than a micro switch if you have it working correctly.

I'm pretty sure that is setup so that it takes a certain amount of force to move the **** enough to trigger the micro switch. Something like that will be kind of hard to duplicate. Essentially, what that is doing is mimicking what a strain gage does, without the ease of being able to set the gear shift force cut point.

Why can't you fix whatever is causing yours to bind up and use it?

i was told that the load cell dosent work as well as a micro-switch, the micro switch is an on/off switch, where as if the load cell dosent have enough load applyed to it, or binds up for some reason, it wont work. i want to be able to elimanate the "maybe" and have a "for sure" ignition cut. the load cell that i have now has fail to many times on me, and has destroyed the gears. i just dont have the money to keep fixing the tranny, because of a load cell.

Sounds like you've got the wrong load cell or have it setup wrong if it's able to bind.

tony1, i see you have a strain gage, on your shift ****. does it work better on the ****, or will it work beter if its in-line with the shift rod? what kind of load cell do you have?

Mine is a strain gage bonded to the shift lever itself. I've used them this way as well as the inline units on the Xtrac in the past and had good results with both. Sounds like the one that's bonded to your level may be a better option for you since you're having binding issues with what you have.
