Sorry for the delay-
Fun weekend all in all.
First, we had a lot of challenges during the week. The SWC/ SCCA folks/ teams/ racers and WCVision staff were great and the whole "pro"-program was a lot of fun. I don't know where to begin...
First, our cars were great when they ran.
The #88 bent a valve during practice so we put in the back-up engine. The TC laps times were normally in the 1:35's- 1:39's. The #05 and #88 were in the 37-38's most of the weekend. We could keep up and pass the Tri-point/ bimmerworld cars on the straights but they (all) the TC cars were super fast in the corners.
The #05 didn't have any problems all weekend, until the freakin' race. Lap one of the race the #05 broke somesort of oil fitting (?) on the engine causing Kevin to pull off near China beach.
The #88 was running fine and we were making up time on the leaders. Chris Puskar is damn fast. He was dropping two tenth off each lap and passed the #49 TSX on the outside of the keyhole near lap 13 or 14. I think that put the #88 up to P7 or P8 (?) overall. Then on the same lap when Chris was closing on the P6 or P7 (?) Bimmerworld BMW a small wire broke on the TPS sensor and we were done. Chris should have finished 6 or 7th and maybe have gotten the hard charger award. Oh well.
The SWC TC cars are fast, BUT a privateer team can run with them.
The Hondaworks team is doing everything possible to make it to Road Atlanta.
I have to thank everyone who came by the paddock. We gave out a few hundred t-shirts and the fans really liked seeing the "older" cars. The whole week was a lot of fun.
More later.

It is nice to see more Honda Challenge guys joining Speed World Challenge. I've always knew the talent is there.
It is a tough competition. The Speed World Challenge is a very competitive series and a lot of engineering on their cars. It is amazing to see 2900 lbs cars can corner better than 2450 lbs cars.
The Hondaworks team was allowed to run with 2450 lbs weight which is basically the weight in 2006-2007, while the rest of the team get bumped 50 lbs in 2008 and 150 lbs in 2009. This also give more chance to the smaller team. Like JohnW said, the hondaworks team was faster in the straight, given 450 lbs weight advantage and the fact that Tripoint and Realtime cars running 35% restrictors.
The engineering aspect is just crazy for the top team (Realtime, Tripoint, bimmerworld). I hope one day they can share their wisdom and we all can learn from it.

For those who might wan to see the race on TV:
The race will be broadcast Sept. 1 at 2 p.m. (EDT) on SPEED. The series next travels to Elkhart Lake, Wis., for the Road America Grand Prix Presented by StopTech next weekend, Aug. 14-16.

How willing are these pro teams willing to share setups?
I remember back in 2002 or 2003, watching it when it was on SpeedVision and I just got my license thinking it was the most awesome thing thinking I could do that in riced out Honda/Mazda

I don't think any team will have issue with telling you the spring rate, sway bar size, tire pressure, and maybe even ball park alignment settings.
But it is much much more then that.
SWC has an interesting rule that if a team makes something, they have to sell it. So you could call up RTR or Tri-point and buy every part them make/use but i don't think many/most of us could put it all together and replicate what they do.
Of course they didn't get to were they are with the snap of a finger.

alot of speed tc cars have fancy shocks (i dont remember if johns car does, but i know kevin doesn't), very few non-metal bushings and alot more r&d at a pro level with the chassis they are using. but its a great motivator to step up the game! i got to see this past weekend what a pro-level driver/car builder does in a club racing field. crushes it! but its that kind of thing that makes people push the development farther and farther.

How willing? Some team will go as far as covering their car up. Some team are more open than others. But there is no way they will give you straight answer.

here is where the **** talking is. alot of people didnt like the fact that they were allowed to race due to being "backdated" cars. i wish i could have seen them in action. had free tickets and didnt go. crap!

from 2 years ago at mid ohio. to answer the question about teams and their information...rtr told me alot at the time. so
to them. also at that time a regular spectator did not have access to even the swc teams.

Wow, thats awesome those guys and cars are out there. some real grouches on the scca forums though, glad to see a lot of the members were in favor of the new team!
I can see their points. It is important to keep the image for the manufacturers. That's why they have manufacturer support and contingency. Manufacturer will not be interested if there are bunch of older cars they don't even sell anymore. Otherwise, they would flog and give contingency for Honda Challenge.
If Honda Challenge start to push for newer cars, it will be more attractive for Honda of North America to actually support and provide contingency.
