hello all,
i've been doing some reading and searched through some past threads and stickies. my wife has a 1995 accord lx 4 cyl with ~130,000 miles. a few months ago her CEL light came on and she brought it to a shop and they pulled the code. she didn't do anything about it at the time because the car ran fine and had no other issues. the light would go on and off at random.

just recently, her mileage has gone down from roughly about 24 MPG's to 18 MPG's. it wasn't a gradual decrease, it just happened between two fill ups, and she has gone through two more tanks with the same results. her car has also stalled out twice. she says she got in the car started it, let it idle for a minutes then put it in gear and it died. this has only happened twice though.

i read on here how to pull CEL codes and it flashes one long flash, which i read was normal, then it flashes 4 long times then 3 short. from what i read on here code 43 is the fuel supply system. from what i've read on here it could be anything from the fuel pump to O2 sensor going out.

i would like to try and fix this myself rather than bring it to a shop. i work at an audio shop doing car audio and security systems so i have some basic mechanical skills and and know how use a multimeter and take the car apart. i just don't know much of where to start troubleshooting or what to try and change out first.

any help and guidance would be appreciated. thanks again

 

my gf 99 accord was throwing a CEL indicating the CAT or O2 was bad. seems to have the same problems. car would just die sometimes when coming from a roll to letting off on the gas.

havent had a chance to replace the O2 and check to see if that was the culprit, tranny is out. i've heard some good and bad reviews about bosch spark plugs.
