What he means is rollbars in street use with no HELMET are dangerous. Now on the track cuscos are not that good either. Reason being is that they are bolt in and some people swear by weld in rollbars/cages. With that being said, cuscos in street use can be very dangerous. So unless you track your S any other reason would be for looks "bling".For track use they are not competitively legal, maybe because they are bolt in i dont know.
So in my opinion if they arent comp. legal and are obviously dangerous without a helmet on the street, then whats the benefit besides looks?

the weakness of the Cusco cage is in it's design, and not the fact that it's bolt in the chassis. the way the tubes bends and it's bolted together instead of welded.
your head might not hit the bar or any where close to it while sitting still but your body can move a much as a foot during impact with a 3 point harness. so you need to use a 5/6 point harness with a cage. but if you use a harness, then you need to use a Head Neck restraint system. when your body stop and your head doesn't, that's not a good thing either. but if you have a harness, then you need racing seats because stock seats wont work with a harness. safety works as a system.

Something like this with stock seat belts? Nothing to really hit your head on because its all behind you. I know stock seats bend back a lot in crashes so it has after market bucket seats.
strictly speaking of s2k application of the cusco bar, it was design to fit around all factory panels. because of the tight space in the s2k, the bends are not optimal for structure loads. bends create weak points, so you want the least amount of bends as possible. the cusco cage/roll bar has too many bends and in the wrong place (to fit factory panels). a roll bar with proper padding is safer than a full cage on the street. the cuso bar works in some application, i just don't think it works well with the s2k and so does most racers.
stock seats are design to break backward in a rear impact. so it's best to go with racing seats.

yea its kinda damned if you do, sorta damned if you dont being in a roadster, BUT, I think youll agree your chances of getting rear ended is MUCH MUCH greater than flipping your car
stock s2k have pretty good rollover protection or a convertible. the A-pillar and roll hoops do protect in a rollover but the stock roll hoops is not high enough to protect tall people.
