Default question about flat-footing

I'm trying to improve my times at the track. I flat foot second to third and third to fourth. I was told not to flat foot from first to second but when I watch a video of my run that shift looks so slow. Is it ok to flat foot from first to second or is it too hard on the tranny. Car is a 91 integra turbo 365whp. Stock tranny other than obx lsd. Comp Cutch stage 5 solid puck. 24.5x8.5 M&H.

its hard on the tranny and you eventually will break something on slicks. street tires would be ok but youll spin so i would just shift normal. i only flat foot on the 3-4 shift cause its straight back. and thats only sometimes.

It's fine to flat foot the shift, once you get used to it it's faster since your brain only concentrates on 2 things instead of 3.

By flat footing the car won't fall on it's face on the 1-2 as easily either. Just make sure you push the clutch in all the way or it gets noisy...oops haha

i have really flat feet it sucks.

how is full throttle shifting bad for your trans? it puts a bit of excessive wear on the clutch. but i dont think its any harder on the trans especially with 400hp

actually with many managements like s300 and neptune you can set up WOT shift in the ecu so that the computer automatically drops the rpms to help avoid mis shifts.

How does that help? Dropping the RPM doesn't mean you'll shift properly.

Just shift, I've done it for years on the street and the track and nothing has ever happened.

I've broken axles and differentials but have yet to break a trans and I never lift between shifts on a pass. Granted I'm not making that much power though but executed well, it would still last for a while witrh a moderate power level.

seat time and fine tuning... a t3/4 isnt much to spool why risk your drivetrain?

the biggest problem i have seen with flat footing a car is the shift timing. if you pull it into gear before the clutch is disengaged, you will be tearing up syncros. I was doing that and changed to a 3/4" clutch master so the clutch would release faster and it worked much better.

Yes sir. When Kinetic was Trick they jerked me around a bunch and a lot of money was wasted with them. They do good labor but I would be wise when going to them for tuning. But this was when it was Trick, I have heard good things about Kinetic but I just bring my car to *****.

Good **** better see you at Import Wars Aug 29th. If you buy your **** through **** and race at NEDW he will pay you to run 11.99 , 10.99 , 9.99 = $500 for each time beat. If you decide to go tell him Brad sent you.

Cheers!

omni power makes a bolt in one and there are a few other universal ones like tilton & wilwood. kens kustom chassis sells a kit with bracket and everything you need including a tilton master.
