Removing Brake Dust??????????
i just got new pads and rotors for the front and the front driverside sounds like metal to metal. i brought it to the shop they said it was brake dust they cleaned em out and it helped for about 20 minutes. then the noise came back. how could i clean them out my self. could i just take the wheel off and the pads off and just spray it with a hose???
"BrakeKleen" -- That stuff is amazing. It'll clean and degrease anything. If you're going to be spraying it on anything made of plastic or rubber, I'd recommend buying the non-chlorinated variety, so that it won't melt your goods. It sould run you ~$2.50 for a can.
Are you refering a squealing or squeaking noise as metal to metal contact? Are you sure that the brakes were properly broken in when they were installed? Sometimes if they are not the pads do not seat properly against the rotor and give off a noise when applied. Another thing to look for is to make sure that the pads and rotors are not glazed over. This can cause the brakes to make noise when applied also. It wouldn't hurt to remove the wheels and scuff the surface of the pads and rotors to take the glazing off. Also lubricate the back of the pads. Brake clean can help but it really doesn't solve the problem. These are just a few things I am throwing out at you. If you could describe in more detail to what you are hearing/experiencing I would have a better idea of what is going on and could help you out better.
thanks oneslowls, it sounds like when the pads are worn out and the warning indicater. but it cant be that cuz the pads are brand new, i wore the them in good (i thinks) using them like my grandma for about 500 miles? i tried takin off the pads and scuffin them up a lil bit that didnt help maybe i will try it again. its been aobut 1500 miles and its driving me nuts. its only comin from the driverside front . anyone???
