help: fuel filter replacement
the fuel filter is held in by 3 bolts, one holding it to a bracket (a 10 mm bolt), and the top bolt which is a 17mm and the bottom bolt which is a 14mm.
10mm bolt wasnt hard to take off at all, but how the heck do you take off the 17mm and the 14mm bolt?!
theres no more fuel inside the filter, and these bolts seem so friggin stubborn. its also not helping the weird location they are in.
anyone thats done this before with monkey and socket wrenches, please help!
im sitting here using brute force and the bolts arent budging.
edit: btw, these bolts are on much tighter than 22 lb ft torque....

First you shoulda left it in the bracket so that it wont move as much.
2nd, for the top 17mm bolt, use a long wrench and "hit" the end of the wrench.
The impact motion tends to help. FOr the 14 below the same might work but
you shouldnt have to. Just bolt it back up into the bracket so that it wont move.

replacing it every 15k or so. no reason not to.
steve for the bottom bolt on the fuel filter are you sure i loosen it the same way as the top bolt? it looks like i would need to turn the fuel filter instead...

and 1 smaller one.
i know what to do with the 2 larger washers...
whats the small one for? the bolt that holds the fuel filter in the bracket?

i feel like a retard not knowing how to use this small washer.
but im sure someone else has swapped their fuel filter before. (supposed to be done every 15k guys)

I had a small washer left over when I changed mine out. I coudn't figure out where it went so I didn't put it in and haven't had a problem since. this was done about 5k miles ago. I figure they must sell this filter for a variety of applications and the smaller one was used for some other car.

did you depressurize the fuel system before starting work? I didn't have much problem with fuel splashing. I just put a rag under the filter work area and that was fine.
Only thing I didn't like was the placement of the battery terminal in conjuction with using a open end wrench. Just be real careful there. Fuel + spark =

No washer goes on teh bottom. That is a flare fitting so no washer is needed.
The smaller washer goes under the small bolt IN the top bolt. I think its a 10 or 12mm bolt that is used to release preasure from the system. It is INSIDE the top of the top bolt that holds the banjo fitting down.

The small washer is for the relief bolt on top of the 17mm bolt its not used on the later models but the same filter fits all the integra's since the 94 model year. If yours doesn't have the relief bolt at the top of the 17mm just discard the the washer. And for your information the filter according to acura is lifetime part although optimistic it really can be with the cleanliness of modern fuels. It says it only needs replacement if you run into low fuel pressure problems. My reccomendation is usaully around 60k for replacement just for piece of mind.
****, Ill take it out of the bottom then, as for replacing it, im at 45k bought the car usesd. had like an Andrew filter in, i was like WTF, when i bumped it out, rust came outa the filter with the gas!
Hasent leaked yet...Ill take it out tomorrow, gotta get back to work, and the engine is hot

I spent a good 1/2 hr messing with that mini washer, and couldn't get it to seat properly when I re-attached the bottom fitting to the filter. I ended up leaving the washer off, and haven't had any leaks. Weight savings... .01 oz.
