Front Speakers Only Work With High Volume
I have a 2000 honda civic ex and my front speakers stopped working the other day. However, if i turn up the volume super high they turn back on. They are the stock speakers and am running an aftermarket alpine head unit. Are the speakers gone? Or is it something else?
sounds to me like someone adjusted the fade, and its mainly to the rear, and when you turn it up a lot you can start to hear the fronts.
There is a 500 watt amp that powers a small 10' sub in my trunk but nothing else.
No. I fade everything to the front and they dont work unless i turn it up high. Its as if they were clogged and then when it reaches a certain point they un-clogg

well its probably not a speaker issue if both are doing it simultaneously. Maybe the front channels inside your head unit are just taking a crap, sounds like when you turn the pot (volume ****) up to a certain point, you then saturate a transistor. maybe a resistor burned up inside the hu. you dont' have a spair unit around, even the stock one, that you can swap out real quick to see if the problem goes away do you?
i know its a pain to do those 99-00 civic radio's, but if you can use your radio keys, pull the hu out, and luckily get the factory harness to pull as far out of the cage as possible, maybe even enough to plug into the factory radio, then you won't have to pull the panels.
