Need help here! CEL comes on, power cut!
When I am about to crack vtec or build boost, my motor gets a fuel cut type feeling and gives me a power cut..
I got that it was an IAT sensor I think but I aint sure when i checked the CEL.
Anyone have this issue before?
If anyone has an idea it would help.
Im stumped.

I also took a paper clip and put it in the connector to see what code is spit out, but the light just stays solid?
Any help on how to get the codes flashing?

Trying to diagnose the same problem on my friends EJ8 turbo.
His builds boost quicker, but does the exact same thing. At first it was the MAP sensor (faulty power wire) but I just fixed that. Could be the sensor itself, but thats brand new.
All I can find is people suggesting checking your spark plugs and their gap. His plugs are new but I forgot to gap them when I put them in. Gonna do that now.
Was running fine though for like 3 weeks after I put these new plugs in so who knows...

Checked sensor, checked plugs, and everything is within spec (plug gap is 0.30).
Plugs were quite dirty again (just like his last plugs) but nothing else out of the ordinary. Only thing I can see is we might try another range colder on new plugs as the car is definitely making enough power to.
Going to talk to our local tuner about it whenever we get the chance. If anyone can figure out the problem, its him. I'll post any results.

it got fixed and then was fine.
hope you find out your problems.
Ok I appreciate you letting me know what your issue was. It very well could be something with some ECU wiring (I haven't found anything so far, but I haven't looked hard yet).
Or it could be just the damn ECU itself. We'll be finding out soon hopefully...

Ok, posting just in case anyone has this problem and wants to know.
Fixed issue! ALSO was related to bad wiring (once again the previous owner showed his wiring prowess).
Was a spliced apart wire in the OBD1 conversion harness that had not been reconnected properly. I had seen that it had been modified, but had not taken the electrical tape off to check it out. Evidently he just twisted both ends together and hoped for the best...

thats whats ruff about buying other peoples messes. i had just picked up a ej w/b16a. hitting bumps or working on the car and touching the harness would lead to blown ecu or the 15amp that regulates the speedo and alt.blowing. every connector had been touched by him. it was esp. bad by the key components like the dizz, alt, ect. a week ago i drew the line when i saw the pigtails smoking. immedatly removed & i called chasebays and had a millspec unit fabbed. looking foward to electrical free problems.
