Famous T-belt tensioner failure
This is the 3rd tensioner that went out on me since I've owned the car. Went thru 2 autos and the manuel just died on me. I have to replace the valves and valve guides when the auto tensioners went out on me. I was exiting the freeway and the car was in neutral coasting when the car just shut off. I tried to start it twice while I was still rolling. So I pulled over and the tbelt is loose. How many of you guys came out with no engine damage? Whenever my other tensioners went out I was in vtec so I'm hoping for the best since this one took a dump at idle. Thanks in advance.......
^manual tensioners almost NEVER fail, unless the nut comes loose of the pulley wears out and ive had the original pulley from 92 on mine were talking a decade and more lol.
Get the manual tensioner and call it a day

^ usually happens when timing belt breaks/snaps from overuse/deterioration. Valve guides fail because the valves themselves are no longer straight or are damaged causing damage or its surrounding. How would a valve become bent ? - Either by installation error or timing belt breakage.
