i have a 91 crx dx with a d16a6 multipoint motor when i got it the oil pressure light would flicker when it was at idle but when u hit the gas it would go away. so i changed the oil last night still the same just not as much. today i put a new oil pressure switch on it and the oil pressure light just stays on constant till i hit the gas and it goes away could anyone help me or tell me what to do next? thanks

just a shot in the dark, but maybe a weak oil pump that might soon be going out?

or a bad connection between the oil sender unit and plug itself.

 

where does your car idle at? If it idle's below 750 I would try adjusting the idle screw to see if that makes a difference.

 

nah it doesnt make any noises but i tightend the throttle body cable and it still has the light on

 

what is your idle at when the light is on? either your idle is low, your oil pump is dying, or your motor is about to crap out

 

it was at like 750 and now it sits at like 900 but since iput the new oil pressure switch on it the light stays on with out flickering when its not idleing

 

Don't start it up anymore, you'll blow your engine

 

Check the oil pressure manually with a guage. To see exactly where its at, and not totally believe the idiot light in the dash flicking on a 20 year old car.

And determine from there how healthy it is and or if it is an electrical issue.

 

I seem to read super low pressures at idle on the aim data log system, although the idiot light does not come on. Someone at the track said to use thicker oil. The motor is a D16a6 in H4 trim (read mostly stock). Also in for more info....thanks....

 

oil pump, i had the same problem, i caught mine once i threw a rod bearing

 

Oil pump, replace it before it blows.

 

well i put a new oil pressure switch in it and now it does it until 2000 rpms if im not touching the gas and the car has to warm up for it to come on

 

keep replacing everything besides the oil pump. keep driving it hard.. you'll find out what it is..

like everyone said oil pump man, unless you want a rebuild, REPLACE IT
