How to reset P72 in my '00 GS-R???
Hi there. I have my '00 Integra GS-R and I have been troubleshooting why my V-TEC does not work. I was wondering how to do this, because it says it may be possibly that this is the issue.
I have replaced the pressure switch, checked for clogging in the screen, and the solenoid itself are all good. And yes, my oil level is fine.
I just want to know how to reset the p72.

are you sure thats it? I have heard that you pull both pos and neg for 5 min, and I have heard that you pull two fuses out and wait 10 min then put them back in and then turn the car on and let it idle for 10 min...
Ive already tried both of these. No success as far as I can see. Not saying your wrong but seems like everyone I talk to has a different answer.

everything you said is the same answer. pull the power. doesn't matter how. pulling both cables is beyond retarded. DC needs a ground to complete the circuit. if you have done that and it doesn't work your answer is elsewhere. you either have a faulty vtec solenoid, not enough oil pressure or a bad connection.
Vtec solenoid works, came of my buddys gsr
tested for shorts in the solenoid circuit and pressure switch circuit
waiting on a test for the oil pressure.
I have a question for the oil pressure. Is it possible not to have sufficient oil pressure to not engage vtec but not enough to throw the low oil pressure light?

not sure on the psi vs light
most common reason for this is the connection at the solenoid. make SURE you clip it well and that you don't have a bent pin. if needed you could use aligator clips and take a volt meter to the window. test for signal

Check the code its telling you the problem already! your in limp mode for some reason now unless your vtec solinoid is gunky as crap from dirty thick oil or your oil is extreamly low or like mentioned above a disconected tepm sensor will cause vtec not to engage to save your motor! so check the code fix the problem and if need be the easiest way to reset the ecu is unplug the 3 plugs connected to the ecu it self! easy and safe, wait a few minuets and plug them in it will be reset.

also, one question....how is pulling the kick panel, pulling the bolts holding the ecu, then pulling the 3 plugs easier than just removing the neg battery cable?
If I was in limp mode, my car wouldnt let me rev past 5kish rpms which brings me to this. I unplugged the vtec plug and drove and it cut out at 5kish, but when I have it plugged in I can redline and it wont cut out so that tells me that the wires are connecting.
I have tried 5 different Vtec solenoids
1 different vtec housing
oil pressure switch
different ecu (car wouldnt start with it)
My oil is not LOW. just did a change and filled it back up to where it supposed to be. My filters are fine (non-clogged).
Yes I know p1259 is vtec malfunction. Ive researched it for hours trying to find a solution. I have basically tried everything. However, I need an oil pressure test but if my oil pressure is bad that means I could have bad bearings or my oil pump is shot, but if my oil pressure was bad that should throw the low oil pressure light.

might be a long shot but theres a small oring located under the middle cam cap if its damaged vtec wont engage properly also. try a diffrent stock ecu.
k, even if this code were not one to toss the ecu in limp mode. it does not matter. vtec is not kicking in and you have an issue either mechanically or electrically. basically you need to start testing. there's nothing more we can do on the net. find the troubleshooting diagram for that code and go to town.
