I just failed smog because of my timing. I was wondering how to fit that. I went out and bought a timing light but was wondering if it just consist of adjusting the distributor forward or backwards. The timing is at 3 degrees and i think it needs to be at 16. Any help is appreciated!

 

Warm the engine up, verify engine is idling to spec, jump the service connector, and turn distributor until the red mark (middle in group of three) on crank pulley aligns with the pointer.
