Icon6 Radius Rod INSTALL <--------

Guys I got some new bushings in my radius rods and I absoultely cannot get the dam bolts lined up in the control arms. It's very close but wont go in, anybody have any tricks?

I tried jacking up the control arm to line it up, I really just think the new bushings are making it extra difficult, either that or the rod is slightly bent. I even dropped the Crossmember.

PLEASE Help been at this for hours, thanks.

Try loosening the bolt at the front of the radius rod (where the bushings are) until the two back holes line up with the control arm. Tighten the two rear bolts down, then tighten the front bolt until it stops. You will likely need a long ratchet wrench to have enough leverage to tighten the front bolt because it will literally be pulling your lower control arm forward.

Hope that helps,
Brian.

I've got the bushings rod bolt loose, and no matter what I do I can't line up the control arm bolts. It's about 1/8 inch off everytime.

am I supposed to raise the arm with a jack to make it level and relieve the pressure?

Disconnect the lower control arm from where it attaches to the car. It should work ok then. That's what i had to do.

Thanks, It took disconnecting the lower arm and dropping the crossbeam a bit. Must have bent rods I don't think it should of been that difficult.

also, the new bushings were polyurathene, which made it have zero play.

Glad it worked. My bushings are poly too. I'm sure they make it more difficult to reassemble, but I've always had trouble with those radius rods - even back on my old 86 si.
