Hate to say it but I now agree with you Arthas. I looked at these on tirerack and did the "view on your car" thing and it looked horrible. Maybe with a polished lip they'd be alright but mostly just too much blue. Goin' with Superturismo WRC's instead.

 

Very light wheel, but the RPF1 weighs less than a pound in difference and costs almost half as much.

If that matters, I guess.

I like them but none of the colors offered sit right with me.

 

The Superturismo WRC look pretty sick... Some white 16x7" CP-R's with 205/40/16 tires would look spiffy on your whip though.

I'm sorry, but you've only been here since 07 and you act like you're the high and mighty automotive critic and your standard of judment is whatever is the flavor du jour on HT appearance and cosmetic is this year.

Appearance/Cosmetic is like the ******* of Hondas because it's all the hardparkers that think up new ways to spend money on 10-15 year old cars and it's usually some rehash of some style someone has already played out in another make, or it's "full race" bullshit that never leaves the interstate.

Stop acting like Appearance/Cosmetic is the be all end all of ****ing automobiles and it's some kind of "standard" that you judge. You act like a big man on the internet but I have a feeling you can't back your own **** up, so you just spread it around.

Anyone on this site that really gives a **** about cars probably isn't in here. So congratulations, you're the ruler of the JDM ashtray crowd. May your JDM cigarettes smell different than your American cigarettes, and may people line up to kiss your *** for it.

I don't usually give a **** about join dates, but he's been here for less than two years. Fads come and go, and he hasn't been around long enough to pass judgment like his **** doesn't stink. Imports, and HT, have gone through many cycles of fads, and they change rapidly once they're "played out". He hasn't been here long enough to see how this **** changes so often and without much reason. I joined in 04 and I've witnessed at least 5 fads come and go.

Hell I haven't been here long enough to really pass judgment beyond the quality of execution. If you can mold a fiberglass kit to your car and get a good paint job without orange peel and cracks, I might think it looks ugly and about 10 years out of date, but it was done WELL. I can say that in my own opinion I don't like it, but that doesn't mean anything if the owner's happy. It's your own ****ing taste, and you shouldn't have a guy that spends his day sitting on the computer critiquing your car based on a checklist of what's currently cool talking down to you like they're an authority figure.

I've taken sociology and consumer history classes. Honda-Tech its it's own little microcosm of the macro consumer culture. First step, some guys that have some kind of internet reputation find something new. Execute. Influence their friends. This small group, based on their reputation as "on the cutting edge", or "cool", are viewed as unique and trendsetters. These are the early adopters. People start following them, gobbling up what they do and giving them props. Forum members start replicating their style. Here comes the media (Honda-Tuning, Import Tuner, etc) who does an article on the "new thing". These are the Early Majority. Manufacturers see the new market based on the media and forum attention. Start producing parts or charging higher prices for something that is now popular. People gobble them up to fit in to the new trend. These people are the Late Majority. Knockoff companies capitalize on the products already available and undercut. People who couldn't afford to join on the initial bandwagon buy these parts at affordable prices and imitate the style to the best of their abilities and finances. These are the laggards. Once almost everyone fits into the new mold, the magazines are full of them, the advertisers push their parts, the early adopters deem it played out because they are no longer unique. They begin searching for a new trend. Repeat cycle. People looking to be cool or fit into the next big thing are really fickle and easily swayed, and all it ends up being is a moneymaking operation. Trends come and go, and a lot of the people that were into it just to look cool leave with them. Seriously, I could insert any of the trends i've seen into the above formula and basically tell the history of that trend.

Any business that depends on young adult trends knows this formula well and monitors these trends closely to be able to profit from ever changing consumer culture. I can also almost guarantee that several companies have probably "prodded" these trends into beginning by identifying some of these trendsetters and providing them with parts or ideas. The culture of cool is interesting to say the least.

Seriously, just think of Facebook. Early college only users= awesome. All schools, and soon high schools, join. Early adopters love the marvel of the new facebook and the fact that it's not the cesspool of myspace. Facebook creators realize they have a moneymaking tool, sell out, and include ads and apps. Late majority. By the time your teachers and parents are on there, the laggards have arrived. It's no longer cool to have facebook if your mom sends you "I love you" wall posts and sends you personality quizzes.

Arthas is just a majority member who has decided to elevate his status by acting as a judge and decider of what fits into current trends.
