Default New to Honda, but not to tuning, 98 Integra

Hey Everyone.

First off I want to tell everyone what an amazing forum this is so far. It's a real treat to be able to post somewhere that I dont have to wear a flamesuit. Kudo's to y'all.

And finally I am very new to the Honda scene... I can say just honda right? I've been tuning import cars for about 9 years now and grew up on a farm in ND tuning muscle. I am stoked to have my new project though. I put the down payment on a 1998 Integra shell that has had the engine bay completely redone. It looks amazing, massive kudo's to the guy that did the work. Not sure if he posts here but I would be shocked if the didn't. I should be paying off the rest at the end of the month and will be ordering a GSR engine very soon. I talked over many options (GSR vs LS/Vtec vs ITR) and figured that this would be the most affordable way to go.

Here's what I'll be getting so far:

Thank you all again, and for all the knowledge you've posted. I'm learning alot!

Noice!!! :D

Good choice on the GSR swap. I had a buddy that tried LS/VTEC and his car ended up breaking every other week!

Looks great!

Thought this was as good a place as any to start my build thread. Picked up the shell on Monday and finally had a chance to get some good pic's of it.

Welcome man! I just signed up recently on here too! Looks like a nice little project you got there great engine bay prep work, I concur on the gsr swap, look for a jdm gsr its what I got in my integra now and it rips! You would not be dissapointed with a healthy low mileage gsr motor w/ a few minor bolt ons, they get it done.

I took a buddy of mine for a ride in my teg and gave it ****, he was impressed enough to give me a ride in his '06 gt mustang with headers and pipes, and really it was no faster then my car, but he does have a hard time launchin it without spinnin! Cheers!

ZOMG Car Christmas! Just got an amazingly packed set of boxes from EjSex to start the rebuild on my interior. May have a lead on some seats. My integra is having a good day!

welcome to h-t, gotta lot of work ahead of you, but im definately subscribed for the build might wanna change the title though, to such and such build thread, about a motor though jdm gsr is always a great choice, but look around in the FI thread and take a look and some of the boosted LS cars, and the LSV-tec turbo set-ups who knows you might like it gl

Engine choice is def up in the air still. Who knows at this point, but all signs are pointing to a GSR right now. I'm thinking i'm going to recreate the post in the Appearance build thread. Not sure just the integra thread is the right spot for it.

Wow... really haven't updated in a while... Well... I've moved to the Montana/North Dakota border so internet has been a bit harder to come by.

Give ya a running update of progress and a few pictures and parts ordered/bought/getting ready to ship etc...

Got my interior minus gauges thanks to EjSex and LankorDie... Thanks you guys... GSR black interior with some older Civic SI seats.

Engine choice has been a while in the process, and I have to thank 1996ctr from the bottom of my heart for being understanding through the process. I bought a J32A1 from him back in december to power the Teg after reading about a swap in Honda Tuning. Due to some financial hardships, daily driver difficulties, and a sudden move and job change I haven't been able to get it shipped and he has been insanely understanding. Thank you again from one enthusiast to another. You have been awesome in helping me keep my dream alive.

Shipping is getting worked out as I type. Waiting on the word back from the shipping company to see when they will give it the green light. Once that is underway next step is Axels and Motormounts. Still undecided on what tranny to run with it. The shell is an auto, but for a b18... so Ton's of fabrication is going to be in order regardless. 6 speed out of a TL-S is tempting, but really pricey. Auto is much more affordable, and has the auto shift feature, but is hampered by the cpu. Decisions decisions...

As for progress on the shell, Due to the move and winter not alot has been done other then collecting interior parts. We did manage to strip off the removable body panels to see what is in need of replacing, and in short... all of it needs replacing. Going to keep it usdm spec, but new front fenders, and front and rear bumpers are going to be needed.

Thankfully, since I'm living close to home I'm back in contact with alot of people I went to highschool with, and what do people in a small farming community go to school for... to be a mechanic... I got an exhaust guy... a body guy... a paint gal... and everyone is itching for a fun project... Case of cold beer and I got free help!

Here is some pic's from march on one of the only nice days we had to work... it was 48 degrees... freakin heat wave in ND... Me and SRT4Mike doing some work... And yes... the Furby man knows how to turn a wrench!

Go with a 6 speed tranny, you can buy mounts that way as opposed to fabricating them. There really isn't much to converting an automatic civic or integra to manual, especially when its stripped down like this one. holes are already in the firewall for the clutch pedal, it simply has to be bolted in.

idk man i think a k20 or a k24 would be great if your looking for some amazing power. but it does look like a good project car. how much did you pay for the shell?
