Default Shifting from 2nd to 1st

Hey guys, anybody ever tried shifting from 2nd to 1st say on a tight hairpin in a track??

Car was running about 32mph on 2nd gear and I tried shifting to 1st during a tight turn to keep the revs above 3500rpm, it didn't work. Heal and toe to match the revs, didn't work as well.

My friend with the same car (accord) did it unintentionally, Keiichi Tsuchiya did it as well when he was versing Orido in Civic type R. How do you do it????????????

you never want to go into first while the car is moving at that rate.

easy to do if done right, even easier if done wrong...without using the clutch!!!!!

Coming into a tight 90 on autox course, feet got mixed up, I bumped the shifter out of second, floored the gas, shifter went right into 1st.

But I've gotten it wrong, and broken 1-2 alum. shifter fork.

You don't want to do that.. The only time I go back to 1st while moving is coming to a stock sign or the like, but as I'm doing ~5mph, and I'm sure that's not very good for the transmission.

i used to be able to do it, rev matching while i was giving more gas.. it slid in pretty well..

but an experienced guy out at the track told me never to do it, it's mad on the 1st gear sync as it's spaced further apart then all the other gears?

he explained something to me enough for me not to do it anymore

Guess people need to learn their gearboxes better???????

Hate to see you folks get around a single cone pivot on a autox course.

Brake hard, down into first, turn in, yank ebrake, pivot, power out, grab second.

my auto x course would never have one of these, so i wouldn't have to worry unless i go out of state
