Default b20 timing belt

I'm putting a new timing bet on my buddies lude. I've ony worked with sohc engines, so I have to ask, with tdc on a dohc do you set the two marks on the cam gears parallel to eachother or are they supposed to be off by a few degrees (like 15)? Also, are they supposed to be perpendicular to the head or actually straight up? This is on a 3rd gen si, b20. Thanks!!!

They are supposed to be exactly parallel to each other. When both Arrows point up, it is TDC for the No. 1 cylinder. When the arrows are point towards the front of the car, and are aligned, it would be No. 3. Down = No. 4. Firewall No. 2...

Hope this helps. Make sure to change your water pump too!

That helps a lot...However, what we really need to know is, do the arrows need to point straight up at the sky, or up as in perpendicular to the head?

For those unfamiliar with the B20, the head is angled BACK towards the firewall. Is there a Honda standard that all arrows point up at the sky, regardless of engine. The Cam gears do not have markings that would point at each other..which woud have solved the problem.

Aslong as the piston is TDC, its okay. I think that means it should be perpendicular to the head (if memory serves correct). Stick a long screwdriver in No.1, and turn the crank (via the pulley on the side). Move it, until the screwdriver stops at the top of the stroke; that is TDC.
