im in the market to buy a compressor to paint my sedan. im new to the auto paint thing and the search button is a little more tricky then before. so heres my question. im looking at buying an air compressor but i dont kno if its gonna be a good one to use. heres the details on it. 26 gallon 160 max psi. 6.3 scfm @ 40 psi 4.9 scfm @ 90 psi. any tip will help me out. thanks in advance.

 

i need a good one too and also not too sure, hope we get some info ! i hear the higher the scfm the better.

what about the psi

 

Don't worry about PSI. It C.F.M that you should look at because if low then you isn't going to last painting the whole vehicle. Buying an air compressor for over $500 to $600 seem to be good...

 

idk how serious you are in buying a nice air compressor. but i got a 60 gallon IR compressor with 11 scfm at 90 psi. i paid $650 for it and it is 220v.

 

thanks guys i just bought that compressor from sears for 329.99 i talked to this place called car quest he said its ok to paint i just have to only run the gun and nothing else. sprayed my buddies miata with rusto came out pretty clean. ill post up some pics im done with it. we got really drunk and excite so we sprayed it without really prepping it so yeah never gonna do that again. lol had to wet sand the whole f@#@ing car. took like 7 hours, its smooth as eggs lol. but atleast we taped it off before we sprayed lol.
