Eletrical HID Issue- Need Help
Now, I don't have a Honda, but I figured this is a universal question, if not, I apologize. I'm just hoping that some of you gurus out there could help me out as the Kawasaki forums are relatively dead.
To start things off I have a 2004 ZX6R. 6k HIDs were installed, and the switch for the lowbeams/high beams doesn't work. The only way to start up the headlights is to push the starter button, after the bike has been started already.
This is how I bought the bike and would like to know if this is a wiring error, or if this is how it's normally wired up.

see how it was installed, it does seem like it was installed improperly. Could you make your description of how it is currently working more clear? Do the lights only turn on by pushing the starter button as in the button to crank your motor on?
I think the installer found a problem with wiring it to the headlights directly or had trouble with the ground so figured ghetto-rigging it would be a better solution. with my limited automotive wiring experience, I've only seen this type of wiring for fog lights or other accessories. T-clipping to an ignition wire (so lights will be on when the ignition is powered) is a noob way to do things haha.

Yeah, exactly. They only turn on when you hit the button to crank the motor. The lights do flicker for a split second when flipping the switch and also when turning on the bike.
Is there anything in particular that I should be looking for in this case?

I would def be looking for a bad ground some where between the headlight and the motor. The headlight should have power when you just turn the key to the ON position and from then on out. But there are other ways to wire it, like high beam turns all lights off for dippin from cops n **** like that. Your gonna have to take the fairing off and check the wiring. If it flickers a lil bit, that tells me it's wired, but there is a bad ground somewhere. Hope my ramblings help. Good luck wit it and don't melt your headlight....
