Test pipe question
Ok to start off I ran my car in the 1/4 mile last night and my fastest time of the night was a 15.43. This is only the second time I've ever been on the track, the rest of my runs were pretty consistant at around 15.6/15.7. I'm going to be hitting the track next wednesday again and was talking to a freind of mine, he said I should make up a test pipe to replace the cat and slap it on for the track next week (Keep in mind I will only be using this on the track and putting the cat back on for everyday driving). The fabrication of one is not an issue, I can handle that no problem.
My question is what kind of gains am I looking at HP and/or 1/4 mile times if I get rid of the cat?
My car is bone stock performance wise (06' SI). I have a short shifter, solid shifter cable bushings and Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 tires. I know the cat is a lot of restriction in the exhaust and I feel removing it will give me a little bump in power. I also think an intake along with a test pipe would provide the best results (more air in and more exhaust out).
Anyone have anything to say about comptech's intake system? Anyone use it yet?
