Default Clutch Failed on me...Help Please

2003 Civic SI EP3
60K miles

The clutch felt fine as it has still been springy but the friction point had been pretty high up, but driving yesterday and all of a sudden I couldn't down shift anymore, it just wouldn't go into gear. Came to a full stop, put it in neutral, clutched in and it wouldn't go into 1st. Had to power it into first and chirped the tires and the car moved but hard to shift to 2nd and 3rd as well.

Tested it some more, full stop, neutral, clutched in fully (stayed in neutral) and the car started to shake a bit. Full stop, clutched in fully, put into first gear , and left clutch in (no gas), car shaking more and eventually stalled.

I did notice that for weeks it had been hard to get the car into reverse, felt like it wouldn't go into that gear but didn't clue in that anything was wrong with the clutch.

Do i need to get an whole new clutch kit you think? or something else?

Thanks!

Hey Mista Bone,

one last question, is there anything I could have done to prolong the spring from popping out? new clutch is going in tomorrow, is there any preventative measures that I can do? maintenance wise? other than not driving it hard all the time ofcourse.
