Default crx code one wont clear

keeping it short: 88 crx si w/ ls swap running on original pm6. keep getting a code 1, got continuity through the circuit, brand new o2 sensor. finally wired the o2 sensor directly to the ecu, still tripping the code. ive tried two different NEW o2. any ideas? i knoew newer cars trip o2 sensor when the reading are out or range, but i didnt think obd0 cars did that. or do they? tried to search but i get WAY too many results that are not wha ti need. any info is appreciated. thanks.

When the ECU trips a code from that sensor, it will mean that a) if the sensor is really old its and broken, or 2) its doing what it was designed to do, and let you know when your exhaust gases aren't what they should be.

If it's the latter, which it sounds like it is, your probably running rich. Bad vacuum leak perhaps? Is your car smokey?

car is not smokey, no crazy exhaust smoke or anything like that. i have never had an exhaust leak that didnt mess with idle. it idles fine and steady. maybe a bad FPR? pretty sure the fpr that is on it is cheap aftermarket one, ill put a stock one on and see if that changes anything. gonna change ecu's too just in case its the computer. any other ideas just throw them out there. trying to make a check list of sorts. thanks for the help! going to bed now.

Check the lines to your map sensor are in good condition.

wouldnt it throw a MS code if that was messed up? could the ignition timing throw a code one if it was off?

The map sensor would still be doing it's job fine, by adjusting the fuel map to the correct vacuum levels, but if the vacuum levels are disturbed by a hole in the hose, then the map sensor will cause the engine to run rich.

I've never had a code one thrown by ignition timing, but i'd say it would be possible.
