I was driving normally today and then all of a sudden, I felt some play with my shift ****. I was arriving to where I wanted to go but when I got back in the car, I noticed that when I put it into 4th it would just rev. It has done this once in a while and I'd have to put the shifter in neutral and then pull harder into 4th and it would go in.
Now, when I try to go to 4th, it feels like how reverse is and blocks it. Then when I try to shift into 5th, it feels even sloppier and either doesn't go into anything or will go into 3rd gear.
What is weird is I got 5th to work for a little, and now it never goes in that as well.
Does anyone know what it could be? I think and am hoping it's bushings or my shift linkage. I can't check right now since it's dark out and I have some work on the computer I need to do.
Any help would be appreciated though
Steven

I got a plan on what I'm going to do. I'm not sure if something can jam up anything on my linkage that much to stop it from moving into those gears or getting stuck in some gears but I bet you're right on it being internal.
I'm going to take my shift linkage off from the transmission and see if I can shift the transmission at the selector with a screwdriver which will let me know if I should pull it or not. I don't wanna pull it off if it's going to end up being something on the linkage which I'm hoping for but doubting lol
Thanks for the reply
