Default Ran a new best MPH on my 235's tonight.

Well, I have not had my car at the track since 07. Finally got it all together and tuned it up not to long ago. I was able to get it to a 1/8th mile track tonight and get 4 runs in. I will save myself the embarassment of the first couple passes and just post up the best of tonight:

60' = 1.900

330' = 5.195

1/8th = 7.780

mph = 97.976

The pass would have been better but I blipped the throttle when I launched and Im sure I lost about a tenth on that not to mention im sure it hurt my 60' pretty good. Run was done with 7.5 psi in the tires and boost was somewhere between 16-19psi on a bone stock B18C, I didnt do any datalogs. Car has full interior and the only weight I have taken out of the car is the front and rear bumper supports and the heater core, ohh the cf hood and a race seat. I have no clue what it weighs though.

Before this pass it was either spinning worse with the 60' in the 1.98-2.0 area and it would bog when I hit 2nd. I adjusted the target gear boost a little and ended up with this pass. I need to learn how to use my other rpm/gear boost option in Neptune. I was also launching at 6350 rpms on about 10psi of boost, I think.

My goal is to run 100mph in the 1/8th on these tires and run a 10.999 in the 1/4. I am not sure if my car is going to be able to do that.

here is a quick pic of the car. nothing too fancy..........

Setup is in that build thread linked in my signature. It started off as an old Turbonetics T3/TO4E 54 trim. I had the turbo rebuilt and now it's modded to a 60-1. Still has the E cover so there is not much difference at all. I do not think it made anymore power than it would have as a 54 trim.

Last night over the course of a couple hours and 4 passes I managed to drop about 3 tenths and pick up about 2 mph. All I did was adjust the boost level in 1st and 2nd gear. When I hit 2nd it wanted to bog and I bet I was loosing 2 tents or more, actually, looking at my 330' times I was loosing alot because of that bog.

I need to get my 60' down into the 1.70's and my 330' down into the high 4's if I want to run my 10.99. Thats what I am thinking.

back in 2007 on a tune that made a lot less power and these tires I went:

60' = 1.842

330' = 5.047

1/8th = 7.653

mph = 94.66

1000' = 9.907

1/4 = 11.854

mph = 114.87

That was in 30-40 degree weather, yesterday it was 50 degrees hotter than that.

Might I also add, that as soon as I got the car off the trailer I went to fire it up and it wouldnt fire. I was thinking "THIS IS STARTING OFF REALLY GOOD!!!"

Luckily I had another main relay with me and swapped it right in there. I have a small collection of main relays.

Stock GSR tranny, stock Auto-Zone axles, CC Stage 5 clutch with a decent amount of abuse, stock flywheel.

These are not radials, these are the M&H bias ply 235-60-15", they are about 25.4" instead of the 26" that the MT 235 radials are.

Were your runs on radials or slicks?

Slick with no step just rpm launch, spinning hard through 3rd.

Ahh what tires are you running on the rear? I hear mixing the Bias's with Radials can get a little scary....

I had Neptune's boost by gear too but I could never get my min boost low enough to even use it.

Im running some nitto's in the rear. Whats the difference in running slicks on the front with radials out back and running bias ply's up front with radials in the rear? As far as I know slicks are bias plys.............

If MHtires reads this thread he will chime in on the mismatch, I know from what I have learned many people have wrecked due to mixing Bias Ply's with radials.

FWD doesnt get as loose as RWD with mismatch tires.

good passes man. close to what I did on 17psi a month ago in the 1/8. I think I went 7.9@100mph in the 1/8 spinning on the 235 M&H's

every car that drives to the track and bolts on a set of slicks is mismatching front to rear , what they mean is dont mismatch on the same axle, meaning dont put a radial on 1 side and a bias on the other.

I didnt say slick I said bias's on either the front or rear with radials, I know what I have read. Its pretty obvious not to put a radial on one side and a bias on the other in a performance car

Hey man, I think you are getting a little confused or reading into this too much. Most all of us mismatch tires, you know as well as I do that most all of us with any power put slicks on our car at the track. Tons of us run normal radials in the rear and slicks or whatever in the front. If it were an issue there would be tons of wrecks by now due to this.........

Slicks dont have tread, so how can you compare them to radials or bias ply's? I know people run radials and slicks I do it myself thanks for the info. There was just a thread a few weeks back in here where a guy was running down the track and his *** end passed his front running bias/radials.

I could care less if you people run the mismatch or not, I was just throwing out facts that I know are true from the rep at MH who has stated this on Honda-Tech atleast a dozen times that I can remember. Having read this as many times as I have, I will never run that mismatch, one less thing to worry about.... to each his own.

the issue with mismatch with bias ply and radials is for rwd vehicles. rwd vehicles tend to walk on slicks.

This stuff is somewhat off topic from my original thread, but here is what I think I know. Most all slicks are bias ply construction, they are not the radial construction. Bias ply tires do not necessarily have to have grooves in them to be called a bias ply. It is how the fabric is layed out from bead to bead within the tire while it is being made.

I work at a huge Goodyear plant that produces both kinds of tires.

Either way, I dont care if it could be an issue if I run slicks or DOTs in the front with radial tires in the back. It is not going to keep me from running what I got. You got to also remember that we race FWD vehicles not RWD, where I could see it being more of a problem.

wrinkle walls are not bias ply...

facepalm

The M and HDOTs are incredible.... I went 11.80 at 129 on 10-17-17-20 psi in my heavy *** accord with shitty 2.2 60s limping it out of the hole due to a hurt tranny (that blew up on gthe way home...LOL) and spinning them too. Big boost and racegas with a decent launch and i KNOW it has tens at over 135 in it on them
