call me gay but I do need AC once in a while

What would you do if a freshly charged AC system is not cold, it does blow cool but not Cold cold. Got the 13oz bottle from Autozone
So what would you do?? as far as I know if theres a leak it will at least stay cold for a while (few days to a week maybe??).

1. get a new compressor
2. get new low side piping
3. get new high side piping
4. get a new condenser
5. It could still be a leak somewhere
6.it all denpends

 

go have it professionally tested for leaks. then have them pull a vacuum on the system and redo the freon. that's the best way to get it done. a pro shop should check it for free too

When I was working we did free inspection of ac. go get it checked

 

check for shops that will check for leaks for free or cheap. its prolly a leak somwhere.

 

The a/c system most likely needs evacuation and a recharge.

 

did you just add the freon or did you suckout the old first?

 

I just added freon
it was empty and bone dry

 

you still have to do a vacuum on it and leave it at vacuum for about 20 minutes to see if there is leaks..

put some freon in the put some saliva on the low side and watch for bubbles, and if so go get yourself schrader valve kit from autozone, its the best one out there. the tool actually reaches and the valves are good quality.



ohh and for sure pull a vacuum

 

Well if your system was bone dry, adding 13 oz isn't going to do much. It still way too low on refrigerant, if it blow cool but not cold than it probably doesn't have enough refrigerant in it assume there is no leak.

Im sure the system require over two lbs at least, probably around 2.25 lb, that is around 36 ounces

 

i would take it to a shop and have them do it the right way.. those cans from local stores dont work.. when charging a/c.. you need to fully evacuate the system before putting any in.. or else it will just not work properly.. and there has to be a certain amount of pressure on the high side.. and low side.. might as well get it done right.. cause if not.. it will only give you problems in the near future..

Well there should be tag in your engine bay that say hot much it take but im sure it way more than 13 oz
