ERL SUPERDECK II
What are you thoughts on this block option by ERL?
I have it and will be putting it through some very strenous testing!! LOL
Its a B16 block with their "special" deckplate and an 89mm crank with their GSR 5 point main girdle....essentially a 2.0
Who ownz one out there?

super deck 1 here but it is doing great. never thought about the superdeck 2 for my setup, because i have a hard time hooking up with my current setup. he hee. but i can see it on a b16.

I have been thoroughly impressed with absolutely EVERY ERL block I've received. I don't say that lightly, the machine work is top notch. I'm sure that the extended deck is legit. Run it.
Hell Yea! Im gonna run it hard!
Yup its a 2.0 motor...prob wont hook but hery 25 slicks should do the trick! ha
Cant wait to put it to the TEST!
Will post up dyno of mild Turbo kit first then sometime this winter will post pics with the S368 Race Cover...
ERL is LEGIT! Awesome customer SERVICE! Cant to wrong with anyone down there. They took their time and explained everything spoke to both the head sales guy and the dude who machined and built my motor! He assured me he took his time as if it was his own motor!

chad is the only guy i know that has had problems. we have received a few blocks from them, with spec sheets. go over everything and its always spot on. who knows.
I added to the deck height of the B16 to make it a B18 deck...essentially by doing this I am able to use a "cheap" b16 block put an LS/or GSR (I went with LS for strk) and still kept a decent piston speed when i go a lil past 9500. I loved the way my old B16 felt when i revd to the moon!
There is nothing like a boosted motor tha just LOVES to rev!

Really Joe, I find that super hard to believe especially since you were standing right there in your own shop when you had a Nopi party listening to many others tell their horror stories. And you said "That is why I have all my motors built by..." and the company was not ERL. I am not going to get into details on all the problems I had with two separate blocks both hand built with spec sheets at ERL. For all I know they could have gotten rid of the person that could not put a block together right and maybe now have some quality control in place.
There are a lot of other "big names" out there that had a list of issues, most of those people you know first hand and I am sure you heard the stories. But since you appear to like to single me out and attack my credibility and are obviously trying to imply something I will let you keep riding your bullshit horse that you rode in on.
So...how bout you just let me know when we can get that Valve Cover done? LOL
hey chad, i think joe may solely be commenting on the sleeving process not assembly. atleast thats the way i took it.
erl may be good or bad at the assembly, but the sleeve job they did on the engines i built for me and a close friend are spot on. i trust no one because if it breaks, i will only have myself to blame.
and remember when you point fingers at people, there are 3 pointing back at you.
try top keep the claws in fellas.

Well...I have heard two things:
1) No probs with the sleeves, glad I made the right choice
2) Worried because they did do the assembly...
Then in another post im worried that i went with Wisecos...Sean convinced me and I will give them a shot but i was always a CP guy...we will see. Definately keep you posted on the results.
I cant remember the guys name who assembled the motor.,...wait i think it is in the spec sheet...i will check tonight.
