OEM or retrofitted H.I.D.'s?
I'm getting ready to order a JDM front end and was wondering if the OEM H.I.D.'s are any good? I'm definitely going H.I.D., just not sure if I should go with the OEM ones or retrofit something into the regular blackhouse light. What would be the better option?

the OEM JDM ITR HID headlight if i do remember correctly uses the same projectors/lens as the s2k. only thing with the jdm itr is that the projector flare n step up n aiming is all backwards for a USDM car, the s2k projector retrofit would straighten that out.
Retrofit will be your better bet if you want better light visibility. I had a set of TSX projectors in my hatch and it was the best investment over any OEM JDM headlights. S2K's will be even BETTER.
What do you mean retrofit? I got PnP and it was as easy as changing the stock bulbs. No Mod whatsoever, just had to mount the ballast somewhere.
So much better light than halogen, beam pattern is the same, but what you see is much more clear than halogen. 2x better. My low beam 35W is brighter than halogen 65W high beam.
they are everywhere, on ebay, search yahoo. It just bought some for aftermarket headlamps w/angeleye(Hi/Low), and oem Fogs. real cheap too. about 60 dallars and I got green hue in my low beam, 8000k high beam, and 3000k fog

i would go at least give the OEM hid's some trial and error before upgrading (and i mean upgrading) to retrofit. Maybe you will be satisfied with the oem projectors in the JDM frontend.
retrofit means you replace the projector in the headlight housing with one that is actually made for HID's or that has a better beam pattern for greater visibility, for example the TSX or the S2K's projectors. This requires taking apart the headlight assembly, grabbing a dremel, and putting the pieces back together with the new projector mounted inside the headlight assembly. (Horribly shortend version of what the project entails but w/e)

i have the oem HIDs and im very happy with the light output, very clear. im sure s2k would be better but the oem's are still very nice. i dont think it would be worth the money to upgrade because the oem hids are already very nice.
I just hate seeing cars that has PNP kits that are coming from the opposite direction, it freakins blinds the crap out of me and I'm sure other drivers as well. OEM projectors are "ok". I had some JDM Denjis projectors and had a set of 6K PNP kit, light output was better over stick halogen, I have to admit, but then I retrofitted them with a set of TSX with OEM 4,300K bulbs with aftermarket ballasts, the light output and width of the beam pattern was incredible! I also did the washer mod to get more intense colors. I was very pleased. I didn't have to worry about the bright blue, purple, and yellow crap coming from the opposite direction. Sorry, guys, it just annoys me with some or most of you guys with reflector housings using PNP kits and the light glare goes all over the place.
