what's the best clutch on the market to buy?
I'm looking to upgrade my stock factory clutch to a performance clutch. My car is an 01 stock with about 55K and I'd like a good performance clutch but nothing too aggressive. Any ideas?
alot of guys have good luck with xtd also. and they are a fraction of the price of an exedy. but, yeah exedy is probably one of the better ones for the money.
i had an act pressure plate with spec 1 disc and that clutch was pretty stout to push in, litterally took like 50+ lbs of force to push in, now i have a clutchmasters stage 3 setup and its extremely easy to push.

on a stock daily driver 2001 gsr, i would go with OEM spec opposed to stage 1. that is unless you plan to upgrade in the near future.
this gets my vote as well. if you don't need more friction, you sure don't want to buy it. more aggressive clutches are just harder to drive. the stage 1 maybe but it's not needed with a stock gsr. just grab the exedy/fidanza deal from girpforce. at least with the lighter flywheel you reduce weight and get a slight performance advantage.

and yeh, I've had friends put stage 3 clutches but all it does is make your car crappy to drive and destroy your transmission eventually
I have a clutchmasters stage 3 and love it. It's good for dd and really hooks up. It takes some getting used to, but once you do, it drives like normal. I wouldn't recommend it if you ride with passengers who are not into performance mods, i.e. girlfriend, you'll have to deal with constant bitching about how the car doesn't ride smooth, but what else is new?
wow thanks guys for all your replies
I plan on modifying the car more (motor wise as time goes by and I have more funds) However, this isn't my daily driver so it's my project car. I am leaning towards a organic Exedy stage 1 with a Exedy 9lb flywheel. From what other DC2 and R owners tell me, it's a really good set up and upgrade

Exedy or an Ogura. I searched for Ogura, there only in Europe and Japan and are very expensive. So, Exedy. Exedy makes the stock clutch, like Takata makes the stock seat belts. Now that is quality!
When the OEM supplier designs an aftermarket, it is a no brainer.

i don't actually think exedy makes the stock clutch even though they are oem quality. i thought fuji carbon did the stock clutch. anyone know for sure on this? i had a cheeseball aftermarket clutch explode and replaced it with an exedy; but i could almost swear the guy selling it said fuji carbon was oem on the integra.
