Default Good Integra Wing

I have been searching for the best wing for my integra. Can anyone give me some guidelines?

Currently I have my old street show wings west w type kit with 3 piece wing. It is too heavy (70lb)...

Thanks in advance.

"Objection."

Scott, who also objects to the thought of a wing that weighs 70 lbs...that can't be right can it?

I hope you are in the right forum and asking for advice in a track/autocross stand point... lol. What are you going to be using it for?

Yeah, 70lbs? Holy ****.

A lot of Integra guys like the Mugen or Mugen replica wings. I think they're just sort of so-so as far as actual performance goes.

More importantly, I think you'd do better to maybe just remove the wing altogether and spend that money on more track time, tires, etc.

from what some have told me, the mugen wing does do something. weather or not its enough in a race condition i don't know.

OP-you still haven't told us what your intent is for the car. for daily/weekend warrior i would go wingless, itr, mugen. for a race car (and your sure you need one) i'd go with one of the APR ones that a few guys are using.

sorry for the late reply. didn't get email notification for some reason.

to clearify, i have

1. wings west 4 piece body kit
2. winds west 3 piece wing

both together with mounting hardware = 70lb

I removed the side and rear skirt, since the front lip increases the lip surface area. (looks like it gives more down force than stock)

according to many, the 3 piece wing doesn't do anything, but add extra weight, so I would like to remove them.

the reason why I asked is. since I will be filling the holes and repainting, might as well pick the right road race wing.

I run at VIR 3-4 times a year. I was told, without some kind of wing, my exit speed at the esses will be slower. Currently I exit at 110, I would like to increase that speed and not lower, since that is where I catch a lot of people.

Thanks

I search on team-integra and honda-tech, but no one seem to have a good answer for B series powered integra wing selection. I don't want to copy H1 wing selection, such as apr gtc-200 wing used by Matt Lang. Since his itr was a hybrid, his selection defintely will make my lower powered B series slower.

is my logic correct?

thank you for your guidance. I have read so many good past posts from you... but I guess I am not so lucky to get any good input by asking a difficult question in the forum I thought will help me in.

thanks for your help in my posts

I was looking at apr, but I don't know how to select wings. While I know a wing will keep my speed up or even let me exit faster out of VIR esses, I also know a selection that has too much drag will slow my low powered gsr down. I really have no clue, since the data given by wing manufactures doesn't say much.

can you share your experiences on how to select the best wing for the tracks you run on?

I know in NJMP, no wing will give me better times, but in VIR and Mont Tremblant, a good selected wing will help me.

I am seeking experienced veterans' guidance on how to select a good wing.

thanks again. ^__^

I would stick with the APR wing if you have the funds. heel_touge on here uses it with his B-series powered ITR:

Otherwise I would just throw a stock ITR wing or Mugen/replica on the car.

thanks for taking my question. ^__^

yea.. that 70lb came from the days my integra was a street show car. When I started hpde 2 years ago, I know nothing will affect how I learn, since I was new. But now, I am doing as much as I can to improve my car feel.

I can't find mugen gen 1 and mugen gen 2 is so big, I am scared of it. lol
I don't see it on many road race integras, so I am a littel skeptical too about the reving reviews.

I thought about no wing, but I know I will be slower at my favorate track. help!!! ^__^

the pic suspension I got from matt lang is doing pretty good. I run a set and stock a spare set of cabolt friction xr3's at all times. Just transitioned into nt-01 this year, and is very happy with it. I do about 6 track events a year due to lack of free time. So I really want to enjoy everyone of these track events.

any guidance from experts here will help me a lot. I know it!

what is the speed difference between a gsr and itr? will I have enough power to not let the drag effect my top speed down the straights. if you have been to vir, do you think this gtc-200 will be a good fit for my gsr?

thanks

Use a stock ITR wing. They can be had for ~$150 these days.

I really don't think any of the wings mentioned will have an appreciable difference on vehicle speed for your ability level. As an example, I'm exiting the uphill esses faster than 110, and I'm driving a shorter wheelbase non-winged Civic hatch. I could use some more stability, but whatever.

Unless you're going into the esses flatout, not lifting through the entire thing, and are on the edge of adhesion at the top, I would not use that as a data point. It's also hard to say if it would DEFINITELY make you faster anywhere (and most likely you have more to make up in driving ability than aero enhancements at this time). There are some people that are laying down seriously fast time with minimal or no aero there.

My suggestion: remove the 70lb monster, put rubber grommets in the bolt holes for the time being, and forget the repainting thing.

Also, EDIT BUTTON, DAMMIT!

P.S. As a general comment, Mark's (heel_touge) car felt very stable from the passenger seat. He's got the SP front splitter as well though.

Good idea. Thanks Stinky!
Since its a track car, rubber plugs sounds good. ^__^

I will try no wing for tremblant in 2 weeks. I hope I don't lose my rear.

Juantushag. Aka Renan from the SoCal HC has a pretty good and well thought out wing.

Not sure what the stage is of it but send him a PM and see if he has any.

pm'ed. thanks slammed!

stinky, correct me if I misunderstand:

1. if my tail gets waggly, I should get a wing
2. if my tire feels floaty on high speed turns/sweepers, front splitter will help

is that correct?

Go ahead and kill the wings west body kit. In an off road excursion you'll only end up tearing it off.
None of it provides any downforce, just weight.
Kiwi at SPMS has a decent wing on his teggy, you might want to find out he uses, and the spms splitter will definately provide better downforce than a wings west lip.
Matt Lang carries the DC2 splitter kit im sure.
Pic MIGS brain he runs a mean ITR.

I'm using the GTC-200 with a RoadRace Gear front splitter on my H2 prepped GSR and I am flat from T5 thru T9 and right about 100 thru T10. I ran this car for the first time 2 weeks ago at VIR and it was very stable. Now my LS powered RS was cresting T9 at close to 110 and only got twitchy when I had too lift or hit the brakes (not good right there if the wheel is tuned)
