what header 4-1 or 4-2-1???
Im looking for a header for my car...it is a 95 ej2 with a jdm b16 with a CAI and chipped p28 (untuned) i am going to buy a DC ceramic coated header...but do not know which would be the best for my car....a 4 to 1 or a 4-2-1??? any .02 would be greatly appr.
Get a 4-1 for top end power and a 4-2-1 for more power down low... However, note that DC sports headers are budget products and their performance doesn't stack up favorably against some of the nicer headers out there...
yea...im def. on a budget with these. ive looked at S2 but 799.99 is outrageous!!! any other brands you guys know of thats within the 300 price range would be sweet. DC ive heard is the best for the price though....??
$800 is not outrageous given the serious gains you will see from a header of that quality... Not to mention the fit and finish you will get from a quality product...
The DC headers aren't bad when compared to other headers in the price range but I have heard people complain of the finish deteriorating and fitment issues...
The goal is to make power and the higher end headers are really worth the price of admission... I understand that might not be what you want out of your car though...

FWIW Honda Tuning did a comparison between 4-1 and 4-2-1 and they found that the 4-2-1 was the better option. But you must also consider that they were using headers that were both from Airmass so it cant be said that any 4-2-1 is better than any 4-1. I would say that a Mugen 4-1 is probably much better than a DC Sports 4-2-1.

Personally I would save money and get a good header that isn't a replica
I would go with a 4-2-1, but I personally like torque, and hondas need all they can get. A good 4-2-1 provides a noticeable bump below 5500 compared to a good 4-1, without a whole lot of compromise on the high end.
Go to hondamarketplace.com and compare the dyno charts of the hytech with any you can find of a DC 4-1. I think you'll be surprised, especially for the price.
<--- haven't bought my own hytech yet, but I'm planning on it eventually.
He had a big thread in GDD a few weeks ago telling people to quit bawwwwing about the stuff he's replicating, but I read it wrong. Sorry.
pretty sure these get ugly faster.... but I'm vain so maybe it don't apply to you
However, the hytec replica is awesome, with the exception of, it will most likely be the lowest point of your car, and if your car is slammed, you might have some clearance concerns. i have them, but i had the exhaust shop cut and reweld the header. (IIRC it was the area where 2 merged into 1, that portion was bent downward becoming the lowest point of the car. they charged me 50$ to make it even and/or aim it upward)
now the lowest point is right where the header tucks under the oil pan.
if someday you may go turbo, go buy the cheapest headers you can find, like some megans or something

i had dc header on my em1 and my 97 coupe, my em1 has lost all its coating on the outside, and on my 97 coupe they are rusting pretty bad! o well its only a beater car tho!
How do you quantify "does very well"... What whp gain did you net? Did you lose any torque on the bottom end?, etc...
The gains you get from the higher headers is dyno proven, and very impressive... The gains from the DC header just aren't that great...
True & true!
Bisi makes the best headers, IMHO, but they ain't cheap!
