Default Red deposits under valve cover

Ok well im working on my sisters 96 accord with a f22b2.... i was planning on just doing the basics like spark plugs but the spark plug tubes are full of oil. i went to the FAQ and found a link to solve that... the question i have though is the whole head assembly has a deep red deposit on it. i mean this is like blood red.. does anyone have any idea on what this could be

red is usually ATF or power steering fluid....but most honda power steering fluid is clear or milky

Can you post a picture?

If the underside of the V cover is a redish varnish colour it is normal sludge/varnish. The oil breaks down and leaves deposits on the cover as it heats up. It's normal for it to be a redish brown.
