Is this a rare color?

My dad just bought this NSX. It's a 2000. I'd never seen one in this color before. Is it rare?

Wrong. Since the car is a 2000 NSX, that color is Monaco Blue Pearl, which was available in 2000-2001, and not Long Beach Blue Pearl, which was available 2002-2005. Monaco Blue Pearl is a bright bluish purple, whereas Long Beach Blue Pearl is blue all the way.

Close, very close. Good guess. It is in fact, Monaco Blue Pearl and fairly rare. In person, the color is almost translucent and in the sun, it seems to vary b/t a bluish purple and a medium shade of blue.

One of my fav colors. I think Imola and Lime Green are a little more striking though.

A recent thread over at NSXPrime ( within a year I think ) leads to believe that with salvaged and total loss NSXs, the number is under 7000, but to what extent is unknown.
