Hey was wondering if anyone can identify what my problem is.

I have a 00 civic Si and just recently when I tired to downshift from 5th to 3rd I grind trying to get it in 3rd. It happened on the freeway when I was going 60 mph revving about 3k rpm or a little more. I tried it a couple more times and same thing keeps happening, I keep grinding. It also happens when I vtec'ed it from 1st to 2nd and when I tried to go to 3rd I end up grinding again.

Just a week before it was fine and I didnt do anything new to my car so im not really sure what could have happened. Was hoping if anyone can help me out so I can fix this problem asap.

 

well maybe the first time was a fluke but the constant grinding messed up your third gear. If possible stop downshifting or upshifting into third at such high rpm. You should probably thing of changing your tranny fluid. My car grinds going into second at 20 mph but i have no idea what rpm that is cause my speedometer is off.

 

Yea I was thinking of changing fluids first, but im just worried that i cant down shift or up shift anymore and yea I think it only happens in high rpms, but is there ways for me to find out whats wrong and fix it?
