Default Rabbits 01 DC4 build

So I haven't really posted on H-T much...at all really. I have a thread on other sites thought I'd post it up over here. Inputs are always nice....even negative ones.

Well, figured I'd start my build thread now.

Its a 2001 Acura Integra LS Crap-o-matic err Automatic.

I bought it with 103,xxx miles on it.

Here's how it looks when I first got it.

BLING BLING BITCHES!

Got rid of my bling for a set of 18" motegi MR7's in Hyper Black

Way too big so I swapped out for a set of 17" konig tantrums.

Decided to paint my calipers. Here's how they looked

Tore em all down pressure washed and cleaned with brake parts cleaner. Taped up ready for paint.

Primed

First coat of white

Put back on the car

Changed to clear corners

Got a set of black Motegi's in 16" instead

Carbon Fiber Hood

My new motor

Specs on it

Head
JUN dual valve springs
JUN titanium retainers
Ferrea 1mm oversized valves,
'98 Type R cams,
AEM adjustable Cam gears,
Head has been Port & Polished with ceramic coated valve face and combustion chamber,
New OEM valve and cam seals,
Type R valve cover.

Block:
B18C1 with Eagle rods,
JE pistons,
Type R oil pump,
New Honda bearings and seals,
Steel Head bolt inserts and head studs, .
020 stainless wire o-rings,
.043 copper head gasket.

Intake system:
JG Edelbrock intake manifold, DPR 64mm over bored throttle body.

This motor made 500whp on this setup at 20psi and ran a 10.9 at 133mph in the 1/4 mile on 16 psi.

My 9k HID kit I need to install when I get back from Atlanta.

A little FYI I don't have pics but those gay tail lights are gone. Shortly after I got the car I got a set of 94-97 tails. Then I got a set of 98-01 lights I need to install.

Well, Jon (Kab00m) came out tonight and we started in on the motor. Big thanks to him it was nice to have someone helping and he was a big help. We made WAY better progress than I thought. We started disconnecting harnesses, wires, lines, etc... to pull the motor. I'm picking up the engine hoist tomorrow. If I would have had it tonight I think we could have had it on the ground tonight. We ran into a few problems. Broke a breaker bar, few exhaust manifold bolts, and some tight squeezes but over all it went great. I got a few pics.

Front bumper and hood off.

New motor waiting to go to its new home.

Jon (Kab00m) wrenching on the integra.

Hoses, lines, wires, radiator all gone.

Broke some manifold bolts trying to get them off

VICTORY!

Bags of all my bolts labeled so I dont forget where each one went.

Day 2

Well progress wasn't as good tonight. I got a late start and ran into problems. I went out to L'Orange and ordered a jumper harness to go from obd2 to obd1. Then I had to go out to Crestview and pick up the engine hoist. By the time I did all that and ate I didn't start wrenching until almost 8:30. Vern came out for a little bit but had to leave because he had to get up early.

Pics:

Vern being...well vern lol :happy9:

Vern working on getting the condenser out. Who needs ac when you run 10's? lmao

So I kept getting hung up and couldn't figure out why. Found this lil SOB as the culprit.

I learned that if I drop the upper control arm I could move the spindle enough to persude the axle to come out.

Where I left off at. So close yet so far.

I ran into needing my flat pry bar from my storage unit to pop the axles outta the tranny. Then with hopes I could finish lifting the engine and tranny out. I hope, but it seems the tranny keeps getting caught up on the frame rail, but with the axles out I think I can push it around and wiggle it to come out.

Day 3

So I got back to work on it this evening. I started trying to pull the axles and Javier (TwinChargedCRX) showed up with my parts. He did what I been trying to do for an hour in about 10 minutes, lmao. So thanks to him I got the axles out, tranny cable disconnected, finished dropping the exhaust and started lifting the motor out.

On with the pics

Javier helping the motor out

Good bye stock LS and auto tranny

Naked engine bay

Engine and TC without the tranny. I actually disconnected all the bolts except one I seemed to miss, lol. So the TC stayed on the engine when I seperated it because of one 10mm bolt. HAHA oh well not a big deal

Auto tranny...yea this wont be going back in.

Big *** turbo, lighted flywheel, and stage 3 clutch.

Spearco FMIC

Everything I need to do my auto to manual swap.

Big thanks to Javier for coming out and bringing my parts and helping me get this motor out.

Well today I had to tear the motor down and replace the head gasket. It was a copper head gasket not so ideal for a DD. So I went with an OEM honda head gasket. Ran into a few problems. One of them being I'd never done it before. Made a call to charles though and he helped me out. So big thanks to him.

On with the pics.

Stripped down the old motor. Heres the wiring harness. Not really looking forward to this.

Cams out

AEM Cam Gears and Type R Cams

Old copper head gasket

Head off new head gasket on

Head back on

Me goofing with my turbo

Torquing the head down.

The bolt I broke off in the head (dont ask)

Seeing the new engine on hoist instead of old gets me excited. Look no torque converter instead a clutch =P

I have tomorrow off so more progress tomorrow. Hopefully pictures of the motor going in the car.

Really pissed with this thing. So yesterday I had to change out the headgasket. Ran into some problems and ended up re-timing the stupid thing 3 times. Call it a night with the head gasket changed and flywheel on. I needed a clutch alignment tool. So I talk to Charles today from Top End USA and he was nice enough not only to loan me a tool but meet me half way. So I drive out to meet him and also purchase two tial waste gates from him with upgraded 14psi springs.

Well I realized today I forgot to change the copper rings on the block. Guess what that means? Yup, head has to come back off. So today I tear it back down and have to re-do everything I did yesterday. So after pulling the head off yet again I change the copper ring on the block put the head back on the cams back in retime it everything back together. Put the flywheel BACK on and torque it down again. I put the clutch alignment tool on and its just a hair too big. So I talk to Charles again and he tells me just make it work if it messes it up np he'll get another. So I kinda force it on since its plastic. Get my clutch put on and start trying to put the transmission on. It kicks my *** for what seems all night long. I finally had to call it a night. So tonight I quit no further than I was last night. I haven't decided if I just cant get the tranny to stab in or if its because the stupid clutch is a hair off because of the alignment tool. Either way I'm frustrated as all hell. I was hoping to have all this crap done yesterday so today I was putting the engine back in the car.

I did get a new goody in the mail.

On with the pics.

Cam set back out....again

Tore down....AGAIN! lol

This is what caused me to have to tear it all down again.

Engine and tranny. So close yet so far =/ Couldn't get it to stab together.

My new parts.

Autometer Boost Guage

New ECU. OBD1 P72

My two Tial Waste gates with upgraded 14psi springs and two dump tubes.

Well finally a little forward progress. Not much to say I'll let the pictures do the talking.

My new 3" downpipe. I was pretty happy to see the o2 bungs are already welded in. Makes it nice.

So with holding off for my clutch to come in I decided to install my new pedal set and getting ready for the auto to manual swap.

New clutch pedal assembly.

Old pedal set vs new pedal set

How the setup will look in the car

Mounted the clutch master cylinder.

Installed in the car

So no real new progress yet. I got a bunch of my parts in. I'm still waiting on my clutch. If all goes well I think I'll have the motor in this week and have it tuned. My goal is to make it to the track Sunday since next week I leave for my training then straight for my deployment.

On to the pics

New upper control arms

Innovative Mount for auto to manual swap.

New master window switch. Been trying to get one of these for a while now.

12" slimline fan

New aluminum civic racing radiator.

Intercooler piping. Black with red couplers =P

So last night I picked up some of the last pieces of the puzzle. I got my clutch disc and my turbo manifold. So early this morning I woke up and got to work on the car. I got some pretty good progress done.

Ran into a few things. Like the intercooler piping kit I bought blows, and my down pipe isn't going to work. I'll have to have it cut and re-welded to make it work. Oh well on with the progress pics.

Motor mated to tranny a lot better with the right clutch disc =P

FU old auto tranny

FU old LS b18. Actually....great motor just not in my integra =P Wouldn't mind that motor in a hatch.

Oh now it looks like were making some progress here! Yes that is my new motor in my engine bay with no engine hoist holding it up.

Top view with the turbo manifold and turbo mocked up.
