Default Cheap system for '00 Civic coupe?

Right now I just have the stock system, minus one of the front door speakers. So pretty much anything would be better than what I have. I might stick with the stock HU so I can keep keyless entry (unless there's a way to have keyless entry with an aftermarket HU) but I need better speakers, and maybe a cheap amp/sub. What should I do? Thanks

What's your budget?

They make a retention harness for your keyless, but you have to keep the stock radio in the car.

Personally I would get a 96-98 center console, and put an aftermarket radio in the roughly din sized hole. That's what I did on past civics so that everything "looks" stock.

So the hole in there now isn't din sized? :/

I might just stick with the stock deck then and get new speakers. Will I run into any problems trying to do that? I know I need wiring harnesses for each speaker.

there is really is no point to put aftermarket speakers in with a stock deck, simply due to the fact the stock deck cant give them the power they need.
as 8520 said there is a way to keep it, just get the harness and slip the stock hu behind the lower dash cover.
the hole in it now is a double din, but the stcok hu is a single, but when you remove it youll see what we mean, just grab a deck instal kit.

are the stock speakers blown?
you dont NEED a harness for the speakers, you can just cut the connector off and crimp on the right connectors for the speakers,

I had a 99 Civic EX and swapped the deck out with no problem... keyless entry still worked. Whats the difference from 99 to 00?

If you want to keep the stock deck hook up a line converter. Add an amp and change the speakers.
