Default Distributor help

I have a DOHC ZC in a CRX with a bad distributor. I know the Si distributor is the correct one to use to replace it, but I don't have the money for one right now. I do however have a DX distributor laying around from when I swapped the ZC in. What I want to know is, can I use the DX distributor in place of the Si one? I can't really see the difference between the two, but if for some reason the DX one won't work, I don't want to create extra work for myself by putting that one on, and then pulling if off in a week when I have the money to pick up the correct one. Any advice you guys can help me out with is appreciated.

the correct distributor for the OBD0 DOHC ZC is the TD03U which is the same as the 88-89 Integra - the 88-91 Si and DX distributors will not bolt up to the head

Thanks. I read the wrong line on the parts list. I was looking at the line for the cap when I made my post. So no good on the DX dizzy......damn.

Does anyone know if there are any other distributors that can be used, or does it have to be the 88-89 teg?

the dx dizzy internals will bolt up in the zc twin cam distributor housing, you have to take apart the entire distributor and replace with the dx guts, ive done it before on a friends distributor....... the distributors are the same internally only difference is they dont bolt to the block the same..... the cam angle sensor is on the exaust cam and the dx doesnt have that sensor in it (thats why you have to wire it up on a multi point conversion) or get an 89 integra dizzy if you have the money

So essentially, if I just swap the internal parts I'm good to go? If I decide to go that route, is there anything I need to look out for, or is it a straight replacement?

I'm getting a code 8. Which according to this site http://geocities.com/chipman_13/sens...shoot.html#TPS it looks like the only real solution is to replace the distributor. Basically what happened is the car was running really rough and was losing power. No smoke or anything. I replaced the distributor cap and rotor and it got a bit better, but what happens is that after driving the car for a bit, it will cut out on me and won't start again. If I let it sit for several hours, it will start up and drive with no issues, but after a little while it'll cut out on me again, and I'll have to wait several hours again before I can start it.

My dad suggested checking the ignition timing, but when I checked that, it was dead on, and at any rate it from what I've been reading, if the ignition timing is off, the car will run like crap pretty quickly after start up. Which it doesn't do.

So based on the code I'm getting and the information on that site that I linked, I'm thinking distributor. If you have any other ideas I'm willing to hear them because I really don't want to spend a couple hundred dollars on a new distributor.

Have you check the wires and everything to ensure it's the dizzy and not a break in the wire or the ECU?

Check out the PDF from the Factory Service manual, do the troubleshooting for code 8 to verify the issue is in the distributor before you buy a new one. Better safe than sorry so you don't waste the money on a new one to find out there was just a break in the wire or the ECU is bad.

Thanks. I'll check that out. One question though.....If I get all the way through the troubleshooting to the point that the manual calls for the test harness, what do I do then? I don't have a test harness, and I'm sure as hell not going to drop the couple hundred bucks to buy one from the dealer. Is there anything I can use in place of it?

All you do is hook the leads up of the multimeter to the designated pins. That is all I did and it helped me find my issue with my code 9 in my distributor.

Running into an issue.....neither of the harnesses on the distributor match up with what's in that manual. Any other ideas?
