Well I had another thread on here about some ticking sound coming from the head, here is a link to it https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-crx-ef-civic-1988-1991-3/what-noise-video-2618139/.
Most people are like it could be bent valves, bent rod, etc. They also said do a compression test. So today i did a compression test on my b18b1 it is stock just bolt ons, and advanced timing. Team-integra said for a ls the normal is 135-199. I got
Cylinder 1- 200
Cylinder 2- 200
Cylinder 3- 199
Cylinder 4- 180
I drove my car for like 10mins to get it warmed up. I probably warmed it up 2much. But it seems to be fine. Cylinder 4 is kind of low but i heard that i should only worry if it is 25psi off from all of the other ones. It is pretty close to being 25psi off. Do those numbers seem to be ok. I want to do a leakdown test now, i just cant find a place that does it around where i am.

This is what I would suggest doing:
If compression is low in one or more cylinders, you can isolate the problem to the valves or rings by squirting a little 30 weight motor oil into the cylinder through the spark plug hole and repeating the compression test. The oil temporarily seals the rings.
If the compression readings are higher the second time around, it means the rings and/or cylinder is worn. No change in the compression readings would tell you the cylinder has a bad valve.

Yea i will try that right now. But it everyone is telling me it should be fine because it is not have a 25psi difference..? So if it stays the same in cylinder 4 that means i have a bent valve?
Well adding the oil to the cylinder will tell you if you have bad rings or a bent valve. I always heard 20 or more PSI difference you had to worry about it. Alot of it is hear say (spelling ftl) though.

ok thanks dephtone i am going to try to what u said. Do i like pour a little 5w-30 where the spark plug goes? How much just like a cap full?
i heard from my auto shop teacher that it was 14psi difference.
if the oil smells gassy than the piston rings r bad.
if the valves r bent then it will most likely smoke or will smoke because the valve stem seals will get worn at a much faster rate.
also go to ur local autozone and RENT a compression tester(i think $30).
u can plug that into the sparkplug socket on the compression stroke
push the car in gear(it will get hard) then u will build pressure in the cylinder and then have a friend pull the e-brake when the needle goes and watch the tester to see if the needle goes down.

yea i already did am compression test. My car doesn't smoke not that i know of. And i dont smell nothing like gas? If u look at my vid in the link u can hear the ticking sounds like bent valves
compression on the B18B1, according to the manual:
nominal = 199 psi
minimum = 135 psi
maximum variation = 28 psi
sounds like valve adjustment to me

i did do a valve adj. but i did it lol. It was my first time doing it so i will try again and see what happens. What feeler gauge do u people mostly use? I was using .007 .178mm for exhaust and.005 .127mm for intake.
you should do what deftone said to find out if your rings are bad, what I have to say is more of a suggestion about your other thread you started about the knock. You should take off your valve cover and pull your ecu fuse so your injectors arent pumping fuel and put a socket wrench on your pulley and go cycle it one revolution and watch to make sure everything moving the way it should and check your rockers for possible damage from your missing locknuts. Also was the last locknut in the pan.

Ok thanks no i didn't find the locknut in the oil pan it was in the head under the cams. I took off the cams to get to the nut. Just a couple of drops thats it? I will try that 2marrow now it is too late.

ok so today i put a lil oil in cylinder 4 and it went up 2 200psi. So i am guessing i have bent valves in cylinder 4. What are some good valves for a b18b1? I was looking for flat face ones.
i would suggest performing a cylinder leakdown test. this will tell you in more detail how well everything is sealing.

i'm also wondering if you are properly adjusting the valves... the noise could be from something as simple as that.
