Default axle question for a b16a swapped crx

When replacing the axles do you use 88-89 or 90-93 integra axles ??

The car is a 88 crx dx.

I used a 90-93 gsr axle on the driver side but it seems to bind when fully tightened.

I purchased a 92 gsr axle for the driver side. The tranny is a J1. It fits fine in the hub and in the IS but when tightened it binds and don't move.

The intermediate shaft determines which axles to use. If the LS intermediate shaft is used (Has a female end) then use LS axles. If a GSR shaft is used (Has male end) then use GSR axles.

However I am not 100% if they are different between manual and auto, you may want to check this also.

Its a j1 tranny so im assuming the IS is for that tranny. The IS has a female end on it.

Yes, it probably is your rubber seal for the wheel bearing causing it to bind after you tighten the axle nut. It is probably not binding it is just extremely stiff because of the rubber not letting the shaft slip. Put some grease on the seal or oil for that matter then tighten it up and I will bet you will be able to at least turn it.

there's a ring on the hub you have to remove for b-series axles to fit properly. After removal, axle will not bind when tightened with axle nut.

Ok... the "ring" was removed as this was a previously swapped rex.. I DID find a resolution tho!! I used an 89 teg axle and it works like a champ!!

Thanks to all for you ideas, thoughts and opinions!! :D

failed to mention you needed an axle for NON-ABS.

I'm running the 89 integra axles. They are fairly cheap at auto parts stores and carry the lifetime warranty where I work.

If you can get them Brand new they will come with an abs ring. All you need to do is take a hammer and flat head and hammer it off. So abs or no abs don't worry about it
