Default Power unlock disable guide???

I'm looking for the post/guide that shows how to disable the power unlock tab when the car is off to defeat coat hanger entry.. I've searched but I'm either not using the right wording or something cause I can't find it and I know I've seen it somewhere....

Thanks for your help.

couldnt you just take off the door panel and remove the plug for that switch.

The guide shows how to disable the unlock feature when the car is off to keep thieves from unlocking the car with the tab. removing the tab only makes it pointless to have power locks... I've seen the specific guide but I can't find it thus why I asked.

Sounds like all you need to do is install a relay in the door to interrupt the power to the switch when the car is off. You'll want a normally open (NO) relay for this.

Why not add a security system so that if the door is opened its triggered.

pop the locks, trigger the alarm and dissapear.... wait for the owner to shut off the alarm and start again, now after two or three times of this cycle most people will leave the alarm off assuming it's gone nuts, now steal car...

There is a specific way that dissables both unlock tabs when the car is off, I've seen the post but I can't find it (searched for a few days now). I made this post not as a "what to do" but a "where the hell is the post" post.

On an unrelated note, it's August 4 already?

I Googled "power lock (honda OR acura) security car off", found suspendedHatch's now-not-stickied-for-personal-reasons How-To on car security, by which he links to that Team-Integra writeup.

okay I'll bite...now follow me:

I'm a thief...i can't open the door locks right? Whats to stop me from picking up a rock
and breaking out a window to gain access? What do I care.. its not my car!!
If there is no security system on the car to alert you to my actions,no pressure. I'm home free.

We have to change this apathetic view that alarms don't work. Look at ANY stolen car post and you will see that in almost all the cases no security system is on the car. Its sad really. Plus by your example honestly....if your system is installed properly and gave you no problems before...them all of a sudden stated triggering all random like most would assume a theft attempt.

Adding this as a layer to a system is a great idea....by itself its a FAIL

I'm glad you focused on the part were I over exaggerated the break in and missed how I was asking for specific information first and formost. I know alarms work, I know layers work, I know all of this (been around this forum for a bit), I was looking for specific information and kept having to re-explain myself on what I wanted.

I gotta ask tho, unless I had a multi sensored alarm, what stops said thieve from popping the hood thru open window and unhooking the battery since the red flashy light told him it had alarm... STOCK SETUP ALARMS DON'T COME WITH MORE THAN SHOCK SENSORS, so even with an alarm it's bypassable...

Guess I should have used more words... thanks for the link, not quite the one I remember but better than nothing.

I know you are trying to protect your vehicle, but you forget the "human element".
Plus I will try to undue some common misconceptions that folks have about alarms.

If a thief sees an led they now have to think:
- is the owner nearby..
- will I be seen.
- Is it "rewards" worth the risk.

Remember thieves like easy targets PERIOD!! Be it a parking garage, mall, niteclub or movie theater or your job...If the know that odds are you won't be coming back to your car for a while or you park hella away from foot traffic...it works to their favor.

I gotta ask tho, unless I had a multi sensored alarm, what stops said thieve from popping the hood thru open window and unhooking the battery since the red flashy light told him it had alarm... STOCK SETUP ALARMS DON'T COME WITH MORE THAN SHOCK SENSORS, so even with an alarm it's bypassable...
okay lets analyze your statement: Thinking like a thief
- do i want the car or its contents? Remember I'm under pressure...I don't know where you are unless I cased you going into a theater with your girl or the mall. My best thing is to get the car to where I FEEL SAFE. Say i take the challenge and trigger the alarm now I have to shut it up. So I pull the 12v post off the battery...i now have a "dead car" and very little time to find an alarm. The longer I stay the more nervous I get and the higher my chances of getting caught . Remember I don't want that to happen.

Some years ago Car Audio and Electronics did an article on car theft using real world conditions. I took the info and formulated an alarm training when I worked @ circuit. The class went over theory and practical applications and we installed a system in a car I was junking. I had 3 installers who were not a part of the class to come in and break into the car. Key was left in the ignition...to complete the task they had to disable the alarm and get it started. No holds barred. This was a basic viper 300 system....no backup battery or prox sensor. I pulled to plug on the project after 15 mins. That is an eternity for a thief.
I wish you well on protecting your investment...just look at it from all angles.

god I love honda-tech and the forums. Once again, I know alarms work, I know layers work (fuel pump kill switch saved an alarmless car from the worn key trick) and I know thieves will get anything they want (read a story about either a skunk 2 or Tein show civic dissapering from it's transport trailer...). My point as it still remains that I asked for specifics and got suggestions.

Secondly, this isn't for me, my buddy just aquired a civic lx and is wanting what ever he can for security with zero money put in (he's a teacher at a high school), yes an alarm will be tons better but for under 20 bucks it's just not gonna happen right this second.

I'm glad you've extended your information and opinon and I don't fault you for trying to convince me but the point still remains that I asked for help in a specific fashion and got lots of suggestions towards other things. If I asked for a specific guide/info for doing a conversion from a DX/LX exhaust to an EX exhaust, it'd be utterly pointless if I got "Man you should just motor swap" or "man you should just turbo"...
