Sol Belt Squeal on Startup help
Hey Guys, Kind of a noob question BUT. Ive got a 94 Del Sol With a B18b1 swap in it and just the other day I started it after letting it sit for a bit to a super high pitched squealing sound that seemed to come from the area where my belts are in the engine bay like the wheels were turning but not catching and making this ridiculous noise... Is it time to replace the belts? or can I just lube em and be ok? Whats a good way to tell?
most likely the alternator belt.
its pretty common for them to do that when they are worn out and need replacement.
look at the belt, are the ribs cracking and hard? if so replace it
if the belt is fairly new, they tend to stretch a bit after install, just adjust the tension/ tighten it.
edit: to tell which belt it is, take spray bottle with water in it and spray the belts one at a time, whichever one you spray and the squeal stops, thats your culprit

Ok, So I checked the belts and they all look good no cracks no real wear they look almost new, Heres the weird thing...If i put her Neutral and let the clutch go after I start her the squealing stops... could this still be belts or do i need to chagne my Transmission Fluid? Or is this a sign of something worse?
