I feel lucky to own a em1 now. Use to have a 00 ex and try so hard to front it as an SI, but at the end of the day it not a em1 lol. But now that i have a si, i take out all the bagde and side stickers.

I was wondering this exact thing just a couple of days ago. I assume it's more common by a genuine Inegra Type R, but by how many? Especially since Type R's were around for more years of production.

She is a very helpful person who works for a Honda dealer, she may have access to the info we are looking for. I myself work for Acura, but i'm in Canada, and don't have the stats on this subject unfortunately.

Being rare brings value! The car was limited to 2 years of production, i'd be interested to know

Oh geez, my adoring public.

Thanks for the boost. I could use it.

Unfortunately I do not!

Production numbers don't seem to be something Honda is usually very interested in unless they see it as a means to help sell cars (say if there's only 50 made, for example).

So far I haven't managed to get a job at Honda. My local dealership has a union and is difficult to get into. I'm still trying.

Did you get that PM about the accessories manual? I'm very tempted to give it to you because, well, you're Deetz, but I can't help but be stingy and keep it in my collection! I promise I will leave it in my will to you. (Seriously, if anything were to ever happen, direct Eran to this comment and he will send it to you.)

Okay, so onto the story about the number of EM1s.

I've heard several different guesses over the years, but so far no one has managed to give me any sort of solid proof or evidence.

I started collecting VINs earlier this year. In my file I keep track of the full VIN, where the car is, who is belongs to (if I know) and the color. Year can be determined by the VIN. I ran all the VINs so far collected to make sure they're legitimate.

I also have a way to "create" VINs, which at least lets me see how far up serial numbers might go and how low they might go.

That entire endeavor was shut down when H-T moderators had to regretfully inform me that they needed to junk that thread because a member on the site decided to report me to police in my state because he claimed I was probably trying to steal cars with those VINs.

Funny enough, many of the VINs I collected came from for sale ads on sites such as cars.com and AutoTrader. I doubt I've seen any of those cars in person and I really don't have any urge to do so.

I just want to learn about the cars.

Either way, I will not be asking anyone for their VINs on this site again. I have some of them that were volunteered to me by the owners and I thank those people, but I would encourage you not to PM me anymore out of fear that the site will get trolled again by someone claiming I'm a car thief because I accept VINs.

I will continue on with my research. Unfortunately I can't say if it will ever ended up posted on this site. I'm just not sure it's such a good idea.

i was questioning this before i saw this on a website
12th - 17th Character: The 12th through the 17th character in your Honda's VIN indicate the sequence of the vehicle for production as it rolled off the manufacturer's assembly line. The last four characters are always numeric. Idk if that would help out
