i work at my dad's hardware store and we are usually pretty slow on saturdays, so i got this crazy idea in my head this moring so i went to work on it. it was really easy b/c i had all the supplies i needed right there.
i've seen other Integra's with ram air, but most of them had BOTH lights on passenger side removed
here's a little closer view..... i put Nascar style grill screen over the opening to block out large debris

heres and even closer view.... if you look closely you can see the green foam rubber air filter (lawn mower filter)

under the hood.... the filter is inside the black reducer coupling with some more of that grill mesh there to keep it from sucking the filter itself in

let me know what you guys think

I have a similiar set up on my car. I have a turbo so tube is coming from the side with a K&N cone style filter on it then I built box around it. I'm thinking of taking out the driver side hibeam and puting a oil cooler there.

is the lawnmower filter restrictive?

i wouldn't think so..... it's the foam rubber kind, but like i said, i kind of came up with the idea today at work, so i used what i had access to. i will probably try to come up with something a little better on down the road, once i take it for a good test run

Maybe your test drive will prove me wrong, but I'd suggest having that red pipe lead right into the stock air box (bottom covered up somehow).

ok, i did my test run ont this thing AND.....
i noticed an increase of airflow, and power. the air flow is really strong, i had a friend that stuck his hand up to it to see if he could feel it, and i sucked a paper napkin right out of his other hand. the problem i am seeing so far is that my VTEC is no longer audible... it wasn't very audible in the first place though since i am using a GS-R ecu. the only thing i can think if is if maybe i am not getting enough fuel now to copensate for for the added airflow... i am still running a stock LS fuel setup (fuel pump, pressure regulator, injectors etc), or perhaps the air is actually more restricted now... as you noticed from the pics, i am also using a JDM B16 exhaust manifold, so i wonder if perhaps that too is restricting the flow b/c it has nowhere for it to go. any more opinions on this would be greatful...
this whole thing was done on a whim and i am kinda doing the R&D as i go along, so input would be excellent
