hey what up all. new here to the forums. thought is make my first thread. i just recently bought an 88 civic hatch, but the radio is gone as well as the hvac. this is what i have.......

ha ha nothing at all. So i'm looking under my dash and i have all these extra wires under there. this is what i pulled out...

so from left to right here goes.

this goes right under the far left vent right above the pull down nook we have there. i figured this was all wires from hvac but wasnt sure b/c you'll see where it ends up.

the wire colors coming out are blue/black, blue, green w/1 sliver dot...

and they are spliced into red, black, and green.

the red wire gets spliced again into this....

which is the big wire that is white/black.

and from that plug the other big white wire gets spliced into this blue wire..

ok so back to the black and green wires from the beginning...

the green wire gets spliced into a yellow wire, and the black gets spliced into a black/yellow wire.....

and from this plug, theres a black/white wire that get spliced into a black wire which is next to the blue wire from the other plug.

these 2 wires, black and blue, go to the clock?

the clock has been gutted and the only button left on the clock is the reset button.

so with all that, i am so not sure where these all end up. its definitely not factory.

reason for me asking is b/c its sticking out from under my dash. i'm not planning on putting an hvac system in so i dont mind taking this wiring out.

so another part of this problem. there is no wiring for the radio's harness. i cant find the ends of the harness so i was gonna hard wire everything but need a place to tap into for the battery and ignition wire. any suggestions? i know i can tap into the power for the clock or the cig lighter, but i dont have any of those wires (at least they arent hooked up). but i found this plug

and from right to left the wires are blk/yllw 1 slvr dot, grn, blu/red 2 slvr dot, red/blk 1 slvr dot, red 1 slvr dot.

the black/ylw 1 dot is giving a 12 volt signal while the ignition is turned on. anyone know what this plug is for and can i use this for the ignition??

and 3rd my headlights don't work. i am not getting any volts to the power wire which is the red/yllw 2 black dots

i know they go into the car but i can't see where they go from there. i wanna get my main lights fixed, my high beams work fine but not the lows.


sorry if this is a really long post but i wanna get all this crap cleared up. i still have so much more to figure out on this car but i wanted to start with these 3. thanks all in advance!!!

 

BUMP. forgot i had this post. well to update it i think i found out what the wires from my 2nd question are for. i believe they are for the hvac sysytem. i am thinking power for it. i was at the junkyard and saw the back of an hvac and it looked like the plugs. if any one could second that, it would help

go for the easy route and get a whole underdash and engine wire harness from a donor vehicle...!!!

 

i tried but the junkyard by my house sucks. it always has sedans and only has like 1 or 2 hatchs. plus i dont want to mess with the wiring b/c i dunno what this guy did when he swapped the engine.

i was at the junk yard and it looks like the wires from the first problem are from the steering column. i am not too sure b/c i couldnt really tell b/c they were all spliced but thats what it looks like. i dunno why i would have extra wires (if they go to the steering column) b/c all my wires are there on my column. anyone have any other info on these wires and plugs

did you check and see if some of them extra wires belong to a old alarm setup on the car...!!!

 

find a completed wire harness, your easiest, best, fastest, cheapest route to go.............or another car

 

i'm pretty sure thats what they were from. there are remnants of an alarm that used to be in the car. red LED light, alarm horn, actuators in the doors. so thats what they might be from. nothing is wrong with the car i just dont like all that extra wiring pushing on the fuse panel. sometimes that sh=t falls down while i'm driving

 

just take your time and safely remove each and individual wire connected to the alarm brain and you should be good to go...!!!

 

there was no alarm brain. so i just ripped that **** out. well not ripped but i didnt take my time. none of the wires had power to them anyways. thanks everyone
