Check Engine Light..on and off?
Forgive me if this is covered already, but i searched before posting and found nothing of the problem that i have right now.
words searched:CEL, Check Engine Light, Short, Electrical
anyways, onto the problem. i was cruising today and i barely use my brake to slow down (only at red lights and stop signs), so i downshift to slow down. well, when i downshifted into 2nd, i was at about 3.5k rpm and my check engine light came on. i stopped on the side of the road and popped the hood...there wasnt anything that sounded like there was wrong with the car (no knocking or squeaking) and there was no smoke other than the usual white smoke that comes out above 4k rpm. anyways, i turned the car off and back on, and the CEL was gone!!! I was just wondering if it might be a short or some kind of problem with the ecu??

yes, my entire dash works perfectly, the only other thing that comes on is the check oil light when i take sharp turns, even though i have more than enough oil in the car, and still carry extra in the back(car likes to burn oil, lol).
you don't need to wait until the CEL comes on - the codes are stored in the ECU and remain there until you reset the ECU - the CEL will go out every time you turn the ignition off and stay off until another problem is encountered, but the codes are still there
Usually if there is a problem that turns the CEL on, it will still be a problem the next time the car is started. The CEL would be on constant in this case. The only one that does not do this is the O2 sensor. If you restart the car, it clears the CEL on the IP.

changed the o2 sensor with a BOSCH one, was a B to get off...it was so rusted and the heat sheilds are ridiculously placed to where i had to take off the right side cooling fan just to get to one bolt...lol
