Hey guys,

I am getting some new brake rotors and pads for my 94 civic hatch Si, how do I know if my car has ABS or not? Sorry if its a stupid question. Thanks for your reply.

 

Do you have rear discs?

Do you have a big box thing with a bunch of brake lines going to it under the hood?

I think the only one that came with ABS is a 2dr EX....could be wrong though

check to see if you see the ABS pump under the hood.
you should see a bunch of brake lines coming from it.
and no. not the brake master cylinder

 

slam on your brakes

if they lock up, then no

Look for the ABS pump/lines (circled in green in the pic).

This is an Integra but the Civic is pretty much the same.

 

All you gotta check is your dash. If you see ABS lit up then you have ABS....

 

If you hear tires screeching when you brake pretty hard, chances are you might not have ABS...

 

Ok I do have disc brakes in the rear here are some pics of my interior that may look like something like an ABS module. What do you guys think??

if you do not see the ABS pump, then you do not have ABS.
from the pictures, that just look like regular brake lines coming the your prop valve

Seriously though, you can look for the ABS pump.

 

You have ABS. That is the pump not the prop valve. Orange connectors also mean you have ABS.

but yes. that is an ABS pump so you have ABS

now call your insurance company and have them give you a discount for ABS.
thats if your insurance gives out discounts for having ABS

 

Another way to check is to see if your axles have a gear set of teeth around them

 

easiest way would be to turn the key on to the acc position. if theres an abs light that comes on, you have abs...

 

ya i am pretty sure that Si's have ABS.

 

i have a '94 usdm EX and my ABS light doesnt come on when i start my car.

the oil, battery, check engine, and seat belt (when its not strapped in) only come on.

but ALL '94 civic EX's were suppose to have ABS


or my bulb could have blew out

 

well not ALL of them came with ABS.
only a few selected ones came with it

ohhhh. but mine DOES have abs. i have the pump in there, just checked lol

but i have the yellow ABS indicator on the dash, it just doesnt light up when i start my car

 

it would be sick if my fkn 97 EX came with ABS. I know some of them did but mine didnt :/

 

I know this thread is old and I came across it to help me with abs, but what is the black box on the drivers side above the power-steering reservoir with a green wire coming out of it??... is that part of abs..
