Icon6 1997 wiring converted to2000

i have a question that i hope someone can help me with. i have checked scematics and im not to good at reading them. but i have a 1997 dx hatch that i have been in the process of converting to a type r. the hatch came with a automatic tranny and a d16y7 which is non-vtec. so far i have swapped out the motor with a 98+ spec ctr and have the wiring harness that came with the motor thanks to hmotorsonline. i have swapped the wiring under the dash that came out of a em1 which is the 99-2000 civic si. the gauge cluster came from the em1 as well. the problem is that my chassis wiring harness that goes to my fuel pump and my rear lights did not match up to the plug from the em1 harness. i have spliced some wires and got my fuel pump working and my parking lights. but no reverse lights or brake lights work right now. i was wandering if anybody has done the same thing and can shed some light on the subject for me. any help will be appricated

yup.. did the exact same thing you did... twice! for REF in cali
the first time we used the WHOLE car harness from the si, which was a pain to match up the rear lights but harness wise it was all plug and play...

the second time around we spliced the stock ek plug coming from the fuel pump and rear lights that youre talking about to the si plug coming from the dash.. way easier that way and saves you a headache, although your rear wiper wont work due to the si not having one, i think theres something else but im not sure, nothing important...

just get wiring schematic for both cars and match up the wire colors, OR do it like we did, get a volt meter and turn each accesory(brakes, parking lights, defroster, etc..) on and see which wire gets power, turn it off and see if it looses power, then repeat the process until you have no wires left...the rear speaker wire colors match to the si plug, the same goes for a couple more wires, just not sure which ones, its been over a year since the last one we did... simple stuff just time consuming, make sure you solder your connections if you go this route, and heatshrink them.... if you have any questions just hit me up ill be happy to help you out!

oh and another thing, you said you have the wiring harness that came with the motor, you wont be able to use that harness because its meant for a RHD car, you have to find an em1 engine harness as well

question for you... why are you changing the wiring to obd2b?

well my em1 was obd2 so when i wrecked it i just took all the wiring out of it but i did change the engine wiring harness if you look at my other post you will understand why and i had no complications with the ctr harness everything went in just fine just still have no vtec. and i cant find scemitics with wire colors for the 2000 harness yet. i have a manual from chliton but it just classifies all the wiring as 96-00 so its no help. and the colors are different between the two

well then youre gonna have to do what i did and get yourself a volt meter, a beer and start testing wire for wire.... how were you able to use the jdm harness that came with the motor?

now that i think of it i guess its not a jdm harness its just the one hmotors sent me. so i do have some wires that are hot but how am i supposed to know which one goes to the brake lights. shouldnt it only come on when the brakes are pressed?

crap forgot! we tested the wires with the old harness before taking it out, tagged each wire with the name of the component it went to then when the si harness was plugged in, we did the same to the si plug and just matched them to the ek ones... i guess if you still have the si harness that runs to the back, use that... not a straight plug and play but you wil figure it out, more common sense than anything...

its only supposed to come on when you hit the brakes.. there is like two constant wires that just supply power i think... its gonna be hard since you cant find schematics for the ek.. ill try to find see if i can find something for you...

here is a link with diagrams, i think is what you need... its for the 97 civic and it should tell you which wires are which that go to the rear... http://pdftown.com/pdf-ebook/1997%20...20diagrams.zip

you should have changed the floor harness as well as the underdash, and just changed the rear plug on the floor harness to match with the 96 plug.. would have saved you from a big headache. if you're in Southern CA i can help you out. i did this on my hatch.
